2025 Fantasy Outlook
Evans needed a catch in garbage time of Week 18 last season to extend his legendary streak of 1,000-yard campaigns, but it was only a close call in the first place because he missed three and a half games with a hamstring injury. He averaged 17.2 PPR points, his most since 2019, despite playing second fiddle to Chris Godwin early in the year. Both Godwin and Evans were injured during the same game, with the former suffering a season-ending ankle fracture. Evans went on an absolute tear when he returned a month later and didn't have Godwin competing for Baker Mayfield's attention, averaging 6.9 receptions for 95.6 yards on 9.3 targets over the final seven games of the regular season (five TDs). The Bucs are bringing back all their starters on offense from last year, but they couldn't keep star coordinator Liam Coen, who now runs the show in Jacksonville and will be replaced by internal promotion Josh Grizzard. The on-field continuity is promising, although it's hard to imagine anyone can match the phenomenal job Coen did in 2024. There are two other concerns for Evans -- the first being target competition from Godwin, Jalen McMillan and first-round pick Emeka Egbuka, while the second potential problem is Father Time. Evans will turn 32 before Week 1 and has seven hamstring injuries on record, although he's yet to show any other signs of slowing down and has a remarkably clean medical sheet apart from the hamstring troubles. RANKS
Won't play this week
Evans (collarbone) will not play Sunday against the Saints, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans returned to practice Wednesday after missing six weeks with a broken collarbone. He never seemed likely to play this week but might have a chance four days later for a Thursday home game against Atlanta. If not, Evans should at least be back for the Week 16 contest at Carolina on Sunday, Dec. 21. With Jalen McMillan (neck, IR) also out for at least one more game, Tampa's top wide receivers are Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin, Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard.

There have been some close calls during Evans' 10-year streak of 1,000-yard seasons, but 2023 wasn't one of them. He had one of his best campaigns yet in the first year after Tom Brady's retirement, with his most targets (136), catches (79) and yards (1,255) since 2018 while falling just one TD shy of his career high (13 was still good enough to tie for the league lead). QB Baker Mayfield enjoyed a renaissance, and his solid work throwing downfield allowed Evans to land slightly north of his career averages for YPT (9.2), aDOT (14.0) and YPC (15.9) despite taking on more volume. The Bucs threw fewer passes than they had with Brady, but Evans' share of the targets skyrocketed to 24.5 percent after three straight years in the high teens. Tampa then managed to re-sign both Evans and Mayfield this offseason, though OC Dave Canales slipped away to become head coach of the Panthers. New coordinator Liam Coen said he plans to move Chris Godwin back to the slot -- which should correspond to a higher target rate -- but there's not much else around in terms of target competition after the Bucs used all their cap space to keep the gang together and settled for third-round pick Jalen McMillan as WR3 competition for Trey Palmer. And while the likelihood of TD regression has to be noted for any player that accounted for 13 of his team's 28 receiving scores, Evans has a lengthy track record of hitting paydirt (12.3 percent of his career receptions) from both distance and inside the red zone,

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Practice window opened
Evans, who's been on injured reserve due to a broken collarbone, had his practice window opened Wednesday, Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers will now have 21 days to activate Evans from injured reserve or he will be forced to miss the rest of the season. The perennial Pro Bowler was able to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, and his return to game action, if it occurs, will naturally offer a boost to a Buccaneers squad that's looking to hang onto its current first-place slotting in the NFC South.
