Jordan Watkins

23-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
2025 Fantasy Outlook
The 49ers selected Watkins late in the fourth round of this year's draft with the intention of adding depth to a revamped receiver corps. The 23-year-old brings sure hands and return abilities to the table, but he'll struggle to find playing time assuming he breaks camp with San Francisco. Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and veteran acquisition Demarcus Robinson are lined up to serve as the starting WR trio while star wideout Brandon Aiyuk rehabs a knee injury to begin the season. Watkins was active for four games in 2025 and finished the regular season with two receptions on three targets for 26 yards.
ANALYSIS
Watkins suffered a high-ankle sprain in the preseason but was still able to make the 53-man roster as a rookie. The fourth-round pick was a healthy scratch for all but four games even with the 49ers dealing with depth issues at the wide-receiver position. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has a track record of not relying on rookie wideouts, so there is a chance we see Watkins' role increase as a sophomore in 2025.

Impresses Niners vets in offseason
WRSan Francisco 49ers
July 19, 2025
Watkins, whom the 49ers selected out of Mississippi in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, made a strong impression on a pair of his new veteran teammates with his offseason work, Briana McDonald of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Fullback Kyle Juszczyk and Christian McCaffrey have made a concerted effort to mentor the team's rookies this offseason, and Watkins is one that has already stood out for his work in OTAs. With Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall both opening camp in the active/PUP list due to their respective knee and hamstring injuries, and Aiyuk's availability for Week 1 still in question, Watkins has a chance to play a key role right from the onset of his career. "I loved what Jordan Watkins was doing, man. I'm really excited about what he can do for the offense, and that's a position where we're going to need some help early on with Brandon Aiyuk being injured," Juszczyk said.
