Bourne, who suffered a torn right ACL in Week 8 of the 2023 season, began the 2024 campaign on the PUP list before being activated ahead of Week 5 action. Upon his return to the mix, the 29-year-old finished tallied 28 catches (on 38 targets) for 305 yards and a TD in 12 contests. Bourne is under contract with New the Patriots through 2026, but his role in the team's revamped wideout corps, with all of Kyle Williams, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker and Efton Chism also competing for targets that don't go to Stefon Diggs and DeMario Douglas. The veteran wideout returned to the club that he began his career with as an undrafted free agent back in 2017. Bourne was brought in to help fill the void left by injured starters Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall to begin the year. The 29-year-old Bourne was successful in that role, highlighted by back-to-back 142-yard outings in Weeks 5 and 6. Bourne will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but he's unlikely to land in a situation that would make him a viable fantasy target in 2026.

Bourne re-signed with New England as a free agent this spring, deciding to stick around under a new coaching staff. During his seven-year career, Bourne played his best football with the Patriots over the last three season. In 2021, he had 925 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns. After a down year in 2022, Bourne came back strong last season with 406 yards and four touchdowns before suffering an ACL tear in Week 8. He'll now focus on rehab ahead of his age-29 season, hoping to regain a starting spot in a WR group that added veteran K.J. Osborn and rookies Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker this offseason. The Patriots still lack a clear top target, but their WR depth looks a bit better than in Bourne's previous seasons, potentially leaving him with less volume even if he makes it back for Week 1 and claims a top-three role in an offense that will have either Drake Maye or Jacoby Brissett under center.
