Closer: Paul Sewald
(7/16) After setting a record with 17 pitchers recording at least one save during the 2025 campaign, Arizona's bullpen has been far more stable in 2026 thanks to veteran Paul Sewald. After training at Driveline Baseball during the offseason, Sewald re-joined the D'Backs and has posted an 88% team save share through the All-Star break while ranking 6th in the league with 22 saves.

Sacramento Athletics
Team: Sacramento Athletics
Total Saves: 24
Closer: Committee
(7/16) Save chances have been hard to come by for the Athletics as of late, as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests leading into the All-Star Break. The last time an A's reliever recorded a save was back on June 25, which went to Mason Barnett. Since the team has yet to record a save in July, let's look back to June, during which 4 different pitchers combined for the team's 7 saves - Hogan Harris (2), Elvis Alvarado (2), Mason Barnett (2, who was recently optioned to Triple-A) and Justin Sterner (1). Ultimately, this is still a bullpen to avoid for fantasy managers seeking a consistent source of saves.

Atlanta Braves
Team: Atlanta Braves
Total Saves: 28
Next in Line: Robert Suarez 15-Day IL, Dylan Lee
(7/10) Raisel Iglesias has secured 18 of Atlanta's 27 saves through early July for a 67% team save share. However, that mark might be close to or higher than 80% had the veteran closer not missed any time earlier this season. Iglesias wasn't on the shelf for long - he experienced right shoulder inflammation after sleeping on it wrong - and immediately stepped back into closing duties upon his return. Robert Suarez (elbow) - whose been among the league leaders in the saves category the past few seasons - remains a threat to take over closing duties when healthy, but he last pitched June 19 before being shut down due to inflammation in his right elbow. Suarez still has a chance to come off the IL before the end of July, but his recovery timeline will remain fuzzy until he's able to begin throwing again. Dylan Lee has even pitched well enough to close, but he remains in a setup role and is one of the league-leaders in the Holds category.

  1. 6/29:A.J. Minter, who logged his first save of the season Tuesday at Philadelphia, has appeared in 3 games in 4 days. This makes Will Smith the likeliest candidate for a save chance if one were to arise Wednesday.
Baltimore Orioles
Team: Baltimore Orioles
Total Saves: 23
Closer: Ryan Helsley 15-Day IL
(7/8) Ryan Helsley signed a 2-year, $28 million deal with Baltimore this offseason to serve as the team's closer with Felix Bautista (shoulder) likely out for the entirety of 2026. While Bautista has reportedly impressed during recent bullpen sessions, the Orioles don't really have a reason to rush him back, as they're last in the AL East division and several games out of Wild Card contention through early July. Unfortunately, Helsley missed seven weeks of action with right elbow inflammation earlier this season and recently returned to the IL with more elbow trouble. He's currently seeking a second opinion before determining his next course of action, which is never usually a good sign. Since Helsley returned to the IL, Tyler Wells has stepped into closing duties for Baltimore, securing the team's 2 most recent saves. Rico Garcia, Andrew Kittredge and Yennier Cano are candidates to receive save chances as well, but if Wells continues to get the job done he may earn some leash in the role.

Boston Red Sox
Team: Boston Red Sox
Total Saves: 24
(7/16) Aroldis Chapman entered 2026 coming off one of the most impressive seasons of his 16-year career. The southpaw was simply dominant in 2025, leading qualified relievers in ERA (1.17) and WHIP (0.70) while delivering the best walk rate (6.6%) of his career. Chapman hasn't been as dominant in 2026, but is tied for 7th in the league with 19 saves through the All-Star break and still ranks inside the Top 30 qualified relievers in K-BB percentage (19.8), strikeout rate (29.8) and ERA (2.20). Will Boston elect to trade the future Hall of Famer in the coming weeks? At this moment, the Red Sox may look to keep his services, as they're only a 0.5 game out of a Wild Card spot after winning 9 games in a row heading into the All-Star break.

  1. 6/27:Tanner Houck was placed on the restricted list Monday prior to Boston's three-game series at Toronto. Matt Strahm and John Schreiber are the likeliest candidates for save opportunities should any arise during the series.
  2. 10/11:Hansel Robles exited Game 3 of the ALDS on Sunday due to a stomach illness after allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning. He should be considered day-to-day due to his illness. Assuming he tests negative for COVID-19, it wouldn't be surprising to see the right-hander available for Game 4 on Monday. It was the first earned run he's allowed since August 29.
  3. 10/5:Entering tonight's AL Wild Card game against the Yankees, Hansel Robles has not allowed an earned run in 15 consecutive outings. Both he and Adam Ottavino enter tonight's contest with two-days rest, while Garrett Richards and Garrett Whitlock have had one day of rest after both pitched on Sunday.
Chicago Cubs
Team: Chicago Cubs
Total Saves: 20
Closer: Daniel Palencia 15-Day IL
(7/8) While Chicago currently sits 9 games over .500 through early July, they're tied for 26th with just 17 saves. Fantasy managers of Daniel Palencia (elbow) have been frustrated by his lack of saves (only 3) thus far, especially after his electric performance during the World Baseball Classic prior to the 2026 campaign, but he's already made his second trip to the injured list this season. In Palencia's absence, Jacob Webb appears to be the preferred option for save chances, though Trent Thornton and Caleb Thielbar may also get the call in the ninth inning. With the Cubs attempting to chase down the Brewers in the NL Central division while remaining in the thick of the Wild Card race, they'll most certainly look for high-leverage relief help at the trade deadline, as Chicago currently ranks in the middle-of-the-pack in bullpen ERA (4.03).

Cincinnati Reds
Team: Cincinnati Reds
Total Saves: 21
(6/30) Reds closer Emilio Pagan was carted off the field after one pitch during a May 5 appearance against the Cubs, suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Originally given a 4-to-8 week return timeline, Pagan was reinstated from the IL on June 30 and should immediately reclaim the closer role despite his early season struggles (6.43 ERA and three blow saves in 15 appearances). Manager Terry Francona used a patchwork closer committee while Pagan was sidelined, with seven different relievers picking up a save. With Tony Santillan (oblique) and Graham Ashcraft (elbow) on the 15-day and 60-day ILs, respectively, Tejay Antone and Pierce Johnson are lined up to serve as the Reds' main setup options.

Colorado Rockies
Team: Colorado Rockies
Total Saves: 23
Closer: Committee
(7/8) Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer opened 2026 using 5 different relievers for saves through the first few weeks of the season - Jimmy Herget, Victor Vodnik, Juan Mejia, Antonio Senzatela and Zach Agnos. Vodnik went on to record 3 of the team's next 5 saves through the end of April, but Colorado stumbled in May, posting a mere 8-20 record during which there simply weren't many save chances available. With Vodnik landing on the IL in May, Mejia actually led the Rockies with 2 of the team's 3 saves during the month. In June, it was Herget and Jaden Hill recording 2 saves apiece to lead the team. As the calendar has flipped to July, the ghost of Jordan Romano has resurfaced, recording Colorado's 2 most recent saves. Quite simply, this is a bullpen to avoid for save-needy fantasy managers, as it appears to be an unpredictable 6-man committee.

(7/8) After signing a 2-year, $20 million deal with the White Sox this past offseason, Seranthony Dominguez was named the team's closer by his manager. Dominguez recorded 8 of Chicago's first 12 saves through early-May, but the veteran last recorded one on June 14. Lately, he's been deployed earlier in games while Will Venable takes a fluid approach to the 9th inning. In the month of June, 5 different pitchers combined for the team's 5 saves. Since then, Grant Taylor and Sean Newcomb have picked up saves for Chicago, putting both atop this committee for now.

Detroit Tigers
Team: Detroit Tigers
Total Saves: 18
Closer: Committee
(7/8) While Kenley Jansen recorded Detroit's most recent save on July 5, it was his first in several weeks, having last recorded back-to-back saves on June 19 & 20. As the future Hall of Famer continues to approach 500 saves for his career - he's currently 14 away from the milestone - his availability for the Tigers has been spotty of late. Over the past few weeks, he's gone at least 2 days between appearances, thus allowing others in Detroit's bullpen to earn save opportunities. Both Keider Montero and Will Vest have picked up saves recently, while Kyle Finnegan offers plenty of experience in the closer role should manager A.J. Hinch elect to turn to him. Jansen remains the favorite for save chances, but his 58.8% team save share keeps his stability on the lower end of the spectrum among closers.

Houston Astros
Team: Houston Astros
Total Saves: 28
Closer: Josh Hader
Next in Line: Bryan Abreu , Bryan King
(7/16) Ever since Josh Hader was activated from the IL back on June 2, he's recorded 10 of Houston's 13 saves for a 77 percent team save share. After his long layover, the southpaw has shown no signs of rust, sporting an excellent 1.17 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 41.7% strikeout rate across 15.1 innings. His stability as the Astros closer remains high, especially since the team is not likely to sell around the upcoming trade deadline. Going into the second half of the 2026 campaign, Houston sits 3.0 games back of the AL West division lead and 1.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. As such, Hader should continue receiving the majority of Houston's save chances, especially since he's making $19 million per year through 2028.

  1. 7/1:Ryan Pressly has recorded a Save in each of the past 2 days. He has yet to work 3 games in a row this season, so it's likely a save chance would go to Rafael Montero on Friday.
  2. 9/29:Ryan Pressly is currently managing a knee issue and hasn't pitched since Saturday. Kendall Graveman was placed on the paternity list Tuesday. Look for Ryne Stanek or Yimi Garcia as the favorites to pitch in potential save opportunities for the next couple days if Pressley remains unavailable.
Kansas City Royals
Team: Kansas City Royals
Total Saves: 23
Closer: Alex Lange
(7/16) Since June 1, Alex Lange has recorded 8 of the Royals' 9 saves. Unfortunately, his ratios are terrible and he ranks 146th out of 173 qualified relievers with a mere 8.8% K-BB percentage. Lucas Erceg (3.6%, 171st) and Matt Strahm (8.5%, 149th) are actually worse in that category, so it's not like manager Matt Quatraro has many options to turn to for closing duties. With the Royals not in playoff contention for 2026, they'll most likely be looking to deal any reliever that teams show interest in. Perhaps they hold onto Erceg, who is under team control through 2029, but everyone else from this bullpen should be fair game. Meanwhile, Carlos Estevez (shoulder) received an injection in his shoulder a few weeks ago after suffering a setback in his rehab. While it's possible he could return before the end of 2026, it's not looking great for MLB's saves leader from 2025.

Los Angeles Angels
Team: Los Angeles Angels
Total Saves: 11
Closer: Committee
(7/16) Since May 1, four different Angels relievers have combined for the team's 7 saves - Kirby Yates (3), Ryan Zeferjahn (2), Sam Bachman and Samy Natera. Yates recorded the team's most recent save on July 10 and has recorded 2 of the team's last 3 chances. The Angels may simply be building up his trade value, however, as Yates is a free-agent next year and is likely to be moved in the coming weeks. Ben Joyce (shoulder) recently began a minor-league rehab assignment, but could remain there for awhile as he works his way back from May 2025 shoulder surgery. Joyce would be the favorite to close for the Angels once he's healthy, but until then it could continue to be a mixed bag. Consider Yates the favorite for closing duties over the next few weeks - at least until he's traded.

Los Angeles Dodgers
Team: Los Angeles Dodgers
Total Saves: 26
Next in Line: Edwin Diaz 60-Day IL, Alex Vesia
(7/10) Edwin Diaz (elbow) recently began throwing to live hitters after undergoing surgery in April to remove loose bodies from his elbow. The veteran closer is hopeful to begin a minor-league rehab assignment in the near future and is aiming to be activated from the 60-day injured list shortly after the All-Star break. In Diaz's absence, 6 different Dodgers have combined for the team's 21 saves through early July. Tanner Scott has secured the majority of them (13) for a 62% team save share during Diaz's absence. Scott has been outstanding in 2026, posting the 3rd-best K-BB percentage among qualified relievers at 31.2 percent along with the best walk rate (3.5 percent). When Diaz returns, there's a chance Scott maintains a piece of the save share for Los Angeles given how dominant he's been this season. Others Dodgers to secure saves while Diaz has been out are Alex Vesia (3), Will Klein (2), Blake Treninen (1), Kyle Hurt (1) and Edgardo Henriquez (1).

Miami Marlins
Team: Miami Marlins
Total Saves: 23
Next in Line: Michael Petersen Day-To-Day, Calvin Faucher
(7/10) With Ronny Henriquez (elbow) out for the 2026 campaign and Calvin Faucher failing to establish himself as a bona-fide closer last year, Miami sought a more established closer this offseason, signing veteran Pete Fairbanks to a 1-year, $13 million deal. Fairbanks finally managed to stay healthy for a full season in 2025, but hit the IL in late-April with a recurrence of the nerve issue that sidelined him back in April 2024. Fairbanks was sidelined for about three weeks and hasn't been sharp since his return, posting a 5.21 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 19 innings. He endured a brutal stretch at the end of June, permitting at least 1 ER in 4 straight appearances (7 ER total). If Fairbanks were to get hurt again, or be traded, Michael Peterson - who leads Miami with 16 holds and has pitched well in 2026 - makes sense as a next in line candidate.

(7/16) Both Trevor Megill (oblique) and Abner Uribe have struggled with consistency this season, making it difficult for either to establish decent runway as the Brewers' closer. Megill opened 2026 in the role, recording Milwaukee's first 3 saves of the campaign, but a string of poor outings forced manager Pat Murphy to make a change. Uribe took over for a period, but things shifted back to Megill towards the end of May. Chad Patrick and Joel Kuhnel (shoulder) joined the mix for a while in June, but Megill has secured 3 of the Milwaukee's 4 saves in the month of July. Minnesota Twins

Total Saves: 28
(7/10) Ever since Jhoan Duran was traded at the 2025 deadline, it's been a struggle for any Twins reliever to lock down the closer role, but Yoendrys Gomez has emerged as the frontrunner for ninth-inning duties. Since joining Minnesota in May, he's posted a remarkable 1.78 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB across 25.1 innings, along with 9 saves and 6 holds. He didn't factor into the saves mix right away, but since late-May, he's secured 8 of the Twins' 11 saves for a 72 percent team save share. As such, his stability gets a slight boost, but given the way Derek Shelton has managed his bullpen in 2026, it wouldn't be surprising to see him to turn others, especially if Gomez regresses as the season wears on.

New York Mets
Team: New York Mets
Total Saves: 17
Next in Line: Luke Weaver , A.J. Minter
(7/10) Devin Williams' line in 2026 looks horrendous - his 4.70 ERA ranks 140th out of 174 qualified relievers, while his 1.63 WHIP ranks 165th. Not to mention, the Mets' struggles in 2026 are a big reason his save total isn't among the league leaders - he's currently tied for 14th with 13 saves through mid-July. While he has an 81% percent team save share for New York, his stability has taken a hit thanks to Luke Weaver's extended stretch of outstanding performance. Weaver has not permitted an earned run since May 1 - a stretch of 26 innings (24 games) and counting. He has a 34:7 K:BB ratio during the streak, but doesn't appear to be usurping Williams just yet, especially since the latter he signed a 3-year, $51 million deal with New York this past offseason.

(7/16) David Bednar has recorded 18 of the Yankees' 23 saves (78%) through the All-Star break to maintain one of the highest stabilities among closers. He hasn't always been sharp in 2026, but he's converting his save chances. Camilo Doval and Fernando Cruz line up for ancillary saves, but both allow too much traffic on the basepaths to reliably handle full-time closing duties. It's worth noting that Doval has trimmed his walk rate by 5 percentage points, but a 5.09 ERA and 6 HR allowed through 35.1 innings is what separates Bednar from his closest competition for saves.

  1. 7/1:Aroldis Chapman was activated from the 15-day IL. Clay Holmes has worked 3 games in the last 5 days, but did not pitch yesterday. Don't be surprised if the Yankees elect to give Holmes another day of rest with Chapman back. It's possible Chapman gets the call tonight if a save opportunity were to arise.
  2. 6/29:Aroldis Chapman is likely to return Friday.
  3. 10/5:Entering tonight's AL Wild Card game, Aroldis Chapman has a career 6.43 ERA and 2.07 WHIP in 14 innings at Fenway Park. However, he logged a 2.70 ERA against Boston this season with a 8:4 K:BB in 6.2 innings, albeit with two home runs allowed.
  4. 9/29:Jonathan Loaisiga (shoulder) will likely be activated Wednesday.
Philadelphia Phillies
Team: Philadelphia Phillies
Total Saves: 29
Closer: Jhoan Duran
(7/16) We no longer have to worry about Rob Thomson's fluid approach to the ninth-inning, as he was fired after Philadelphia stumbled to a 9-19 record to open 2026. Under Don Mattingly, the Phillies have gone 45-24, thus easing any concerns that there wouldn't be as many save chances as expected in 2026. Jhoan Duran missed more than 3 weeks of action earlier this season with a left oblique strain, but he's pitched to expectations since he returned to the club in early-May. Even missing time, he's racked up 24 of Philadelphia's 29 saves through the All-Star break for a 82.7% team save share. Unfortunately, Philadelphia will be without the services of Brad Keller for the remainder of 2026, as the veteran righty was diagnosed with a torn UCL. If Keller decides to undergo surgery to address the issue, he would likely miss most, if not all, of the 2027 campaign as well. As such, the team may look to add high-leverage relief help at the trade deadline.

Pittsburgh Pirates
Team: Pittsburgh Pirates
Total Saves: 19
(7/8) Gregory Soto struggled in June, posting a 13.50 ERA and 2.45 WHIP across 7.1 innings last month. He's been homer-prone of late, serving up 3 over his last 4 appearances. He's already allowed more more homers in 2026 (5) than he did all of last year (4). Dennis Santana was the draft market's favorite to lead Pittsburgh in the save category in 2026, but his numbers have regressed compared to recent campaigns. On the plus side, he's been scoreless in 10 of his last 12 appearances, so the Pirates could turn to him if Soto continues to struggle. However, Carmen Mlodzinski might actually be next in line for saves in Pittsburgh, having secured 2 of the team's last 5 saves. Mason Montgomery has electric strikeout upside, but the southpaw has yet to record a save in 2026. Soto is on a 1-year deal with the Pirates, so there's always a possibility of a trade. However, Pittsburgh is currently among the National League Wild Card contenders, so the team may elect to retain his services if they remain competitive over the next month.

San Francisco Giants

Closer: Committee
(7/8) Giants manager Tony Vitello has been fluid with his approach to the ninth inning through the first half of 2026, as eight different pitchers have combined for the team's 18 saves through early July. However, Caleb Kilian has recently gained traction as the team's "closer" having secured 4 straight for San Francisco. Kilian leads the Giants with 8 saves overall, and while his numbers aren't super impressive, he hasn't had much competition for closing duties. It's worth noting, however, that Kilian has hit a recent rough patch, permitting 6 ER across his last 4 appearances. This comes after a 9-game scoreless streak after struggling mightily during the month of May. O'Brien tallied 7 saves in the month of June, but stumbled a bit with 5.40 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 7:7 K:BB ratio across 10.0 innings last month. However, his stability remains high for St. Louis. Closer: Bryan Baker
(7/16) Bryan Baker has been the best source of saves off the 2026 fantasy waiver wire, putting to rest the idea that the Rays were going to deploy a closer-by-committee this season. Griffin Jax - the fantasy market's favorite to lead Tampa Bay in saves before the season started - is excelling in the Rays' starting rotation. Meanwhile, Edwin Uceta (shoulder) has been on the injured list all season with a right shoulder impingement and now appears to be looking at an even lengthier absence after recently suffering a setback during his rehab. Cam Booser leads Rays relievers with a 36.5% strikeout rate, but Baker's security as the Rays' closer remains high, especially since he ranks 2nd in the majors with 25 saves through the All-Star break.

  1. 10/11:Collin McHugh will serve as the Rays' opening pitcher Monday against the Red Sox as part of a bullpen day in Game 4 of the ALDS, Manager Kevin Cash hasn't appointed a primary pitcher to work behind McHugh, as the Rays will instead likely turn to a cadre of arms to fill innings out of the bullpen. Josh Fleming, JT Chargois, Pete Fairbanks, J.P. Feyereisen, Andrew Kittredge and Matt Wisler tossed 20 pitches or fewer in Sunday's 13-inning loss, so the Tampa Bay bullpen should be relatively fresh for Monday's contest.
Texas Rangers
Team: Texas Rangers
Total Saves: 28
Closer: Jacob Latz
Next in Line: Jakob Junis 15-Day IL, Cole Winn
(7/16) Texas experimented with Tyler Alexander and Jakob Junis as its closer early in the 2026 campaign, but Jacob Latz began receiving save chances in late-April and has firmly established himself in the role since then. Latz has racked up 19 of the Rangers' 23 saves (82.6% team save share) since he recorded his first of the season back on Apr 25.

Toronto Blue Jays
Team: Toronto Blue Jays
Total Saves: 29
(7/16) Louis Varland has been outstanding in 2026. His 1.10 ERA ranks 4th among qualified relievers, while he ranks 7th in the league with 19 saves through the All-Star break. Jeff Hoffman - who opened 2026 as Toronto's closer, but has endured some epic meltdowns thus far - remains on the radar for saves due to his 34.8% strikeout rate, which ranks 4th overall among relievers. However, Varland figures to see at least 70-to-80 percent of Toronto's save opportunities with the way he's been pitching this season.

Washington Nationals
Team: Washington Nationals
Total Saves: 27
Next in Line: Justin Lawrence , Richard Lovelady 15-Day IL
(7/16) Washington's new manager, Blake Butera, has his team playing surprisingly competitive baseball through the 2026 All-Star break. The team is currently 1 game under .500 and have positioned themselves as an unexpected NL Wild Card contender - they are currently 4.0 games back. While there have been more save chances available than initially expected, it's still been difficult to project saves for this team. During the first-half, Butera has taken a fluid approach to the late innings, deploying a committee of Clayton Beeter (7 saves), Gus Varland (6 saves, though currently in minors), Richard Lovelady (4 - tricpes injury), PJ Poulin (3), Orlando Ribalta (2), and Justin Lawrence (1). 10 different Nationals have combined for 27 saves, so it's anyone's guess who will get the call in the ninth-inning on any given night.

  1. 9/23:Tanner Rainey earned the save for the Nationals last night and has worked 3 out of the last 4 games. Expect Kyle Finnegan, who hasn't pitched since Sept. 19, to get the save chance if one presents itself against the Cardinals tonight.
