2025 Fantasy Outlook
Walker is one of the league's toughest players to tackle, boasting a unique combination of anchor, change of direction and burst that makes him slippery even when he's seemingly cornered. In a certain scenario it would be easy enough to imagine him finishing the year among the league's leading rushers, but his exact role with Seattle might be in flux after recurring lower-body injuries allowed fellow second-round pick Zach Charbonnet to get his foot in the door, especially on passing downs. Walker's willingness to play injured has probably harmed his rushing average over the last two years – his YPC fell from 4.6 in 2022 to under 4.0 YPC since then – but if he proves an ongoing injury risk as a starter then it might be in Seattle's best interest to lessen his workloads in exchange for better explosiveness and longevity. It remains to be seen whether new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak will prioritize usage differently than Ryan Grubb before him, but Walker's incumbent status and uncommon raw explosiveness make him the favorite to remain the lead back over Charbonnet. RANKS
Alone atop backfield
Walker is positioned as the Seahawks' clear backfield leader after head coach Mike Macdonald said Monday that Zach Charbonnet (knee) suffered a season-ending injury during Saturday's divisional-round win over the 49ers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Walker opened Saturday's 41-6 postseason win over San Francisco handling his usual backfield split with Charbonnet. After Charbonnet was forced out in the second quarter due to what's now been revealed as a significant knee injury that will require surgery, Walker stepped into an expanded role and finished the day with 19 carries for 116 yards and three touchdowns, while also securing all three of his targets for 29 yards. Practice-squad elevation Velus Jones rushed six times for 10 yards, and both he and Cam Akers will be candidates to join the active roster and provide depth behind Walker during the NFC Championship Game against the Rams on Sunday. With Charbonnet out for the playoffs, Walker appears locked in for a workhorse role this weekend.

2022
Teams don't draft running backs in the second round with the idea of them being backups forever, but it's not obvious what will give in the competition between Walker (2022) and fellow second-round pick Zach Charbonnet (2023). The two were not close in 2023; Walker was far and away the Seahawks' preferred runner, to the point that they fed him carries even when he could barely practice because of oblique and shoulder issues in the second half of the season. While the two finished the year with similar snap counts (Walker: 476, Charbonnet: 454), the rookie was mostly used on pass plays and had less than half as many carries (108 to Walker's 219) despite playing one more game (16 to 15). Perhaps Charbonnet will close that gap going into his second year, after averaging just 5.4 carries in the 14 games both he and Walker played last year. Walker is the faster of the two and more densely built (four inches shorter yet only three pounds lighter), but the Seahawks seem to trust Charbonnet more as a blocker/receiver, and he was no slouch running the ball at UCLA (2,496 rushing yards, 27 TDs in two seasons). Walker was even more productive in his one year at Michigan State (1,636 yards, 18 TDs), and he's subsequently proven himself at the next level with 1,955 rushing yards in two season, including better work as a situational runner/chain-mover in 2023 after his rookie year was defined by a mix of long runs and frequent stuffs.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Clear RB1 after Charbonnet's injury
Walker is set to operate as the clear lead back for the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game against the Rams, as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed Zach Charbonnet will miss the remainder of the postseason due to a "significant" knee injury which will require surgery.
ANALYSIS
Walker and Charbonnet have operated in a near-even split throughout the season, but Walker's role is expected to expand in the absence of his backfield-mate. Charbonnet sustained the injury in the NFC divisional round against the 49ers, during which Walker rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns. George Holani could operate as Walker's primary backup if Holani recovers from a hamstring injury and is activated from injured reserve. Seattle could also elevate one or both of Cam Akers and Velus Jones from the practice squad.
