2025 Fantasy Outlook
Viewed as a potential sleeper in Andy Reid's offense after being a seventh-round pick in 2025, Smith suited up for all 17 of Kansas City's regular-season games but didn't get many opportunities to show what he could do on offense. The SMU product saw more than four carries in a game just twice, and both times it was against a Raiders defense that didn't provide the toughest challenge. Smith's elusiveness and pass-catching skills as a converted wide receiver in college give him some PPR upside and kick-return utility, but he lacks the size to be an every-down option in the NFL. KC revamped its running back room in the offseason, letting Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt go and replacing them with Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker and former Cardinal depth back Emari Demercado while also using a fifth-round pick on Emmett Johnson. That leaves Smith with no clear path to a consistent role in the backfield, but he could stick on the roster as a special-teams player. Read Past Outlooks

Team signs Walker, Demercado at RB
Smith is expected to fill a complementary role alongside Emari Demercado behind Kenneth Walker in Kansas City's new-look backfield, Pete Sweeney of the Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs have parted ways with Isiah Pacheco and look unlikely to bring back Kareem Hunt, but Walker's expected to handle the bulk of the rushing workload after signing a three-year contract with the team, leaving Smith and the newly signed Demercado to compete for change-of-pace duties. Smith had 44 carries for 151 yards while adding 25 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown on 35 targets in 2025, showing some promising pass catching skills as a rookie seventh-round pick.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Pacheco injury creates opportunity
Smith could take on a larger role Sunday against the Bills in Isiah Pacheco's expected absence, per ESPN's Nate Taylor.
ANALYSIS
Kareem Hunt is expected to lead Kansas City's backfield, but Smith should also slide up a spot to second on the depth chart. Smith got 19 touches in a lopsided Week 7 win over the Raiders but has exceeded four touches in only one other game this season. The rookie seventh-round pick will likely play primarily in passing situations. Pacheco is viewed as week-to-week due to a sprained MCL.
