DeVonta Smith

27-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
Philadelphia Eagles
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Smith has settled in as one of the league's best No. 2 receivers, overcoming a lack of team pass volume because Philadelphia's targets are so heavily concentrated. He's averaged between 14.4 and 15.3 PPR points in three straight seasons, with 7-8 TDs and 64-71 yards per game. Pre-draft concerns about Smith's thin frame (6-0, 170) haven't materialized; injuries have cost him just three games in four seasons (although all three of those occurred last year). Physicality also hasn't been a problem, as he's proven to be a competent blocker who can make contested catches downfield or find soft spots between defenders in zone coverage. Of course, Smith can't break tackles or overpower opponents the way A.J. Brown does, and there's not much hope for more than 6-7 targets per game so long as Brown, RB Saquon Barkley and QB Jalen Hurts enjoy relatively healthy campaigns. Smith is probably capable of handling much more volume, but there's not much reason for the Eagles to test that theory when they have a dominant running game, a strong defense and another WR who is even more talented. Leading receiver in wild-card loss
WRPhiladelphia Eagles
January 11, 2026
Smith caught eight of 11 targets for 70 yards in Sunday's 23-19 wild-card game loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Smith accounted for 70 of Jalen Hurts' 168 passing yards while no teammate had more than 33 receiving yards. Sunday's playoff disappointment comes on the heels of Smith's third 1,000-yard regular season in five NFL campaigns, as he caught 77 of 113 targets for 1,008 yards and a career-low four touchdowns while dressing for all 17 regular-season games. Smith is tied to the Eagles through the 2028 season on a three-year, $75 million extension signed in April of 2024.

2021
Things have mostly gone as expected for Smith since the Eagles took him 10th overall in 2021, though he started 2023 slow with averages of 54.7 yards and 7.7 YPT over his first seven games. He then averaged 75.9 yards and 11.0 YPT over the next nine games (with a 79 percent catch rate) and exploded for 148 yards in an opening-round playoff loss that A.J. Brown missed with a knee injury. The most discouraging development wasn't Smith's early season pseudo-slump, nor the Eagles' late-season collapse -- it was his target share dropping from 27.0 percent in 2022 down to 22.9 percent in 2023 (active games only). Brown's share went up just a tick (28.6 to 29.8), while the RBs' portion skyrocketed from 12.1 percent to 17.8. Smith nonetheless posted a solid receiving line (81-1.066-7 on 112 targets), fueled by career highs for catch rate (72.3) and YPT (9.5), though in fantasy terms it was a step back from his 95-1,196-7 line in 2022. While history suggests new Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore will keep RBs involved in the passing game, Moore's offenses also have tended to be WR-friendly, with highlights including a trio of 100-target receivers for the 2020 Cowboys and Keenan Allen producing a career-high 95.6 yards per game last year in Los Angeles. Even if Smith doesn't rebound to (or surpass) his 2022 production, the combination of age (25), talent and QB familiarity makes him one of the safer picks among players commonly taken in the third/fourth round of fantasy drafts.
GM Howie Roseman hit the nail on the head when he traded up for the 10th overall pick to take Smith in the 2021 draft. While results have been mixed on slim wideouts with hefty college production in recent years, the 170-pounder out of Alabama has proven himself capable of beating press coverage, making contested catches and even throwing blocks to help Philadelphia's prolific running game. On top of that, Smith finished last year with only eight fewer targets than uber-talented teammate A.J. Brown, with both wideouts cruising past 1,000 yards in an offense led by a dominant offensive line and a breakout star at quarterback in Jalen Hurts. Smith's aDOT dropped from 13.9 as a rookie to 9.6 last year with Brown taking over more of the deep looks, but his YPT held steady at 8.8 thanks to a 69.9 percent catch rate. Smith now enters his third NFL season right in the conversation with Jaylen Waddle and Tee Higgins to be considered the best No. 2 WR in the league.
Smith, the 2020 Heisman winner, turned in a solid debut campaign after going 10th overall in last year’s draft, though it perhaps felt disappointing relative to the dominance of fellow rookie Ja'Marr Chase. The Alabama product, unlike his former SEC competitor, didn't have the benefit of a No. 1 overall pick QB in the midst of a breakout season. By most standards, Smith met expectations for a rookie. He led his team in catches, yards and touchdowns, hauling in 61.5 percent of his targets for 8.8 YPT. As expected, Smith won with technique and agility rather than speed and strength, though his unusually slender frame didn't prevent him from blocking or charging ahead for extra yards when needed. He faded down the stretch, at least from a fantasy standpoint, with his volume declining after the Eagles switched from pass-first to run-heavy midseason. It helped them reach the playoffs, and Smith produced 10.0 YPT in the final 10 games, but he also sunk to just 5.1 targets per game after getting 7.6 in the first seven weeks. The concern now is that he might land somewhere between those numbers — rather than progressing as usual in Year 2 — after the Eagles traded for A.J. Brown to give dual-threat QB Jalen Hurts an explosive wideout duo.
Smith annihilated defenses last year for Alabama with an absurd 147-117-1,856-23 line, averaging 15.9 YPC and 12.6 YPT and winning the Heisman Trophy. He skipped the school's Pro Day due to a thumb injury, so we don't have an official 40 time, but apparently he ran a 4.49 in high school, fast but not elite. At 6-0, 170, Smith is slightly built for a receiver, something that could be an issue in the pros with more physical corners and coverage schemes. Nonetheless, the Eagles, needing receiving help, drafted him 10th overall. Smith could be the team's leader in targets right away, though his stiffest competition might be tight end Dallas Goedert rather than any of the team's other wideouts. Last year's 21st overall pick Jalen Reagor had a disappointing and injury-plagued rookie year, and the rest of the depth chart is filled with unestablished options with little pedigree. Smith even opened training camp with a spot on the first unit, but after a fast start, an MCL sprain at the end of July forced him to the sideline. The Eagles expect Smith to miss only 2-3 weeks, so he should be back for the regular-season opener even if he doesn't suit up this preseason.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Primed for No. 1 role Sunday
WRPhiladelphia Eagles
October 24, 2025
Smith will serve as the Eagles' No. 1 receiver in Sunday's Week 8 matchup against the Giants due to A.J. Brown being ruled out because of a hamstring injury, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown failed to practice all week, so Smith has been prepping for the enhanced role he'll fill versus New York. The 2021 first-round pick is coming off a season-best 9-183-1 receiving line on 11 targets versus the Vikings in Week 7, and he also put together his second-best performance of the campaign in Week 6 against the Giants in the form of an eight-catch, 114-yard effort across 10 targets.
