Chris Moore

After spending the last two seasons with the Texans, Moore remained in the AFC South by signing with the Titans just before the NFL draft. He is coming off a career-best campaign in 2022, during which he posted 48 receptions for 548 yards and two touchdowns. Moore could challenge Kyle Philips for slot work this summer but isn't likely to see many targets in an offense with Derrick Henry in the backfield and DeAndre Hopkins and Treylon Burks out wide.

Moore popped in Week 5 against New England (5-109-1) last season, but that was his lone highlight in 2021. Overall, he had just 22 targets in 12 games, 10 of them coming in two weeks. Despite the modest production, Moore returns for a second season in Houston and is expected to serve in a depth role once again if he makes the team. The Texans enter training camp with a number of receivers vying for at most six spots. After Brandin Cooks, Nico Collins and Chris Conley, Moore could on the bubble along with another mid-career returnee, Phillip Dorsett.

Moore is on a downward trajectory in terms of his role in the offense, but the Ravens brought him back thanks to his special teams abilities. In fact, he played more special teams snaps (233) than offensive snaps in 2019. Moore saw all of five targets in 2019 and he now seems even further away from a role in the offense with Marquise Brown fully healthy heading into this season plus the addition of two promising rookies in Devin Duvernay and James Proche. Look for Moore to be a regular on special teams who seldom sees the field on offense under normal circumstances.

Moore has been a quality depth option to this point in his career, but entering the last year of his rookie deal, it's time to prove whether he'll ever be more than that. The Ravens beefed up their receiving corps by drafting Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin in addition to retaining Willie Snead, so Moore already profiles as the No. 4 WR at best. He showed skills growth in 2018, upping his catch rate from 47.3 to 76.0, but his number of targets dropped from 38 to 25. If either of the rookie receivers miss time, which is possible given Brown's Lisfranc injury and Boykin's spring hamstring issue, Moore will be the top option to step into a starting role. Still, the skills growth and added polish from three years in the league doesn't necessarily mean that Moore would be an impact player if thrust into a starting role.

Moore gets a bit lost in the wash in the Ravens' pass-catching discussion after an offseason that saw the team sign three established veterans at wide receiver, draft two more, as well as select a pair of tight ends in the first three rounds. He shouldn't be completely forgotten about, though. Moore showed occasional flashes down the stretch in 2017 and supplanted 2015 first-rounder Breshad Perriman as a starter. Yes, the Ravens brought in Michael Crabtree, John Brown, and Willie Snead, but Brown and Snead aren't exactly locks to play 16 games. Moore stands to get the first crack at seeing snaps in case of injury to any of the aforementioned trio. He'll need to boost his catch rate (18 receptions on 38 targets in 2017) to earn Joe Flacco's trust, but if he does, Moore can be a modest contributor in deeper formats.

Moore is coming off a rather quiet rookie season in which he caught seven of 16 targets for 46 yards and no touchdowns. With Steve Smith retiring and Kamar Aiken leaving in free agency, the expectation was that the Ravens would try to reload at receiver through the draft, but they instead found a replacement in June when the Chiefs released Jeremy Maclin. Moore (6-1, 206) has potential as a deep threat after averaging over 20.0 yards per reception in each of his final two seasons in college, and his leaping ability (37-in. vertical, 130-in. broad jump) can help him in contested situations. The volume probably won't be ideal for Moore, as he'll likely open the season behind fellow outside receivers Mike Wallace and Breshad Perriman, with Michael Campanaro likely backing up Jeremy Maclin in the slot. Maclin's ability to play both outside and in the slot would serve to limit Moore's opportunities even if Perriman or Wallace were to suffer an injury.

A fourth-round draft pick (107th overall), Moore was primarily a deep threat at the University of Cincinnati, turning 26 of his 119 catches into touchdowns while averaging 19.3 yards per reception. He ran a 4.53 40 at 6-foot-1, 206 pounds at the Combine, with solid or strong marks in the other drills. Likely viewed as a long-term project, Moore faces a tough path to targets as a rookie in the crowded Baltimore receiving corps.
