Gets expanded role with Buffalo
Cooks appeared in 15 regular-season contests with the Saints (10 games) and Bills (five) in 2025 and caught 24 passes (on 36 targets) for 279 yards.
ANALYSIS
Cooks saw four targets or less in nine of his 10 games with the Saints. He requested a trade from New Orleans but was not moved by the trade deadline, which prompted the Saints to waive the veteran wideout in mid-November. Cooks opted to finish the year off with Buffalo, and his Bills tenure was highlighted by his performance in a Week 17 loss against the Eagles in which he caught four passes (on six targets) for 101 yards. Injuries to the Bills' pass-catching corps resulted in Cooks stepping into a larger role on offense during the postseason, when he logged five catches (on 11 targets) for 78 yards in two games. The 2014 first-round pick will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

Cooks is coming off back-to-back seasons under 700 yards, following a seven-year stretch in which he topped 1,000 six times. He moved from a dreadful Houston offense in 2022 to a high-flying Dallas attack in 2023, and while his per-target efficiency unsurprisingly improved, Cooks drew only 5.1 targets per game in an offense that averaged 36.1 passes. CeeDee Lamb got 79 more targets (181) than second-place Jake Ferguson (102), who in turn had 21 more than Cooks (81). Eight of those 81 looks went for touchdowns, but yardage was consistently lacking apart from a 9-173-1 outburst Week 10 against the Giants (accounting for 26.3 percent of Cooks' yards for the season). The Cowboys haven't signed any veteran WRs this offseason and didn't draft one until Round 6 (Ryan Flournoy), likely leaving Cooks as the No. 2 receiver again and Jalen Tolbert as the favorite for the No. 3 job (after Michael Gallup was released). Cooks will turn 31 in September and doesn't seem especially likely to add big gains to last year's volume unless Lamb misses time with an injury.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Drawn to Bills because of Allen
Cook, who participated in his first practice with the Bills on Wednesday, said he was drawn to sign with Buffalo due to the opportunity to work with Josh Allen, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cooks was let go by the Saints last week and officially signed with the Bills -- the sixth team of his career -- on Tuesday. The veteran wideout had a modest 19-165-0 line on 25 targets over 10 games with New Orleans, but Cooks and Allen already have mutual admiration. Cooks noted that Allen is "a special player," while Allen praised how quickly Cooks has learned the basics of the offense, labeling his new teammate "an extremely high football IQ guy."
