2025 Fantasy Outlook
Chandler seemed poised for a breakout campaign after he racked up 82 rushing yards on just 10 carries in Week 2 last season against the 49ers, but he saw double-digit totes in a game only once more after that, failing to score a touchdown in 2024 while averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. His speed is intriguing, but Chandler's lack of a well-rounded skill set hurts him, as did the fact that Aaron Jones stayed healthy last year. The Vikings traded for Jordan Mason in March, in a clear attempt to find an upgrade on Chandler for the top backup job. Read Past Outlooks

December 6, 2025
The Vikings have ruled out Chandler (knee) for Sunday's game versus the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Since Minnesota designated Chandler for return from injured reserve Wednesday, he followed an LP/FP/FP practice regimen before the team considered him questionable for Week 14 action. Now that he's officially unavailable Sunday, the Vikings will continue to roll with the RB trio of Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason and Zavier Scott. Chandler's next chance to play is Sunday, Dec. 14 at Dallas.

2022
Chandler had a big game against Cincinnati in Week 15 last year, turning 23 carries into 132 yards and one touchdown, and with that showing the 2022 fifth-round pick may have bought himself a ticket to back up Aaron Jones this upcoming season. Chandler is a bit thinner than most running backs (5-11, 204) and doesn't have great vision or instincts, but his 4.38 speed and decent hands make him a useful player all the same. It won't be surprising if he has a significant role from the jump this year, considering Jones has a lengthy track record of injuries -- especially to his right knee -- and often ceded a lot of work to other backs during his time in Green Bay. The competition for roles behind Jones is far from fierce, with Chandler joined by a trio of running backs (Kene Nwangwu, Myles Gaskin, DeWayne McBride) that had five total carries last year.
Chandler, a 2022 fifth-round pick, is an enticing prospect with a 4.38 40 but barely saw the field last season. He had six carries on 12 snaps (no targets). That could change this year after Dalvin Cook was released in June. Alexander Mattison is the new starter, and Chandler will compete with Kene Nwangwu and Myles Gaskin for backup snaps. Perhaps that opens the door for Chandler to be the main backup to Mattison.
A fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Chandler had four modestly productive seasons at Tennessee, leading the team in rushing in 2018 and 2019 before transferring to North Carolina for a fifth year in 2021. He flourished with the Tar Heels, rushing 182 times for 1,092 yards (6.0 YPC) and 13 touchdowns and hauling in 15 of 17 targets for 207 yards and another score. In the pros, Chandler's 4.38 speed could allow him to succeed in the right situation. However, he'll be stuck behind clear No. 1 running back Dalvin Cook in Minnesota, while backups Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu both are more established.

Odd man out in backfield?
RBMinnesota Vikings
June 21, 2025
In his preview ahead of training camp, Alec Lewis of The Athletic believes that Chandler will not make the Vikings' 53-man roster.
ANALYSIS
Chandler is currently listed as the RB3 on the Vikings' depth chart behind Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason. However, Lewis believes that Minnesota could add a veteran running back like Gus Edwards before the start of training camp, and with fullback C.J. Ham projected to make the roster, that would put Chandler on the outside looking in. Chandler had a productive season in 2023, but his numbers dipped in 2024 as he finished with just 224 scrimmage yards on 62 touches across 17 regular-season games.
