Tough showing in Super Bowl
Maye completed 27 of 43 passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 29-13 loss in the Super Bowl to the Seahawks. He added five rushes for 37 yards and also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear if a nagging shoulder injury impacted Maye's performance, but he was stymied by Seattle's defense for the vast majority of Super Bowl LX. He had 60 passing yards through three quarters, and his most meaningful contribution to the game came on consecutive passes early in the final quarter with the Patriots down three scores, when he found Mack Hollins for gains of 24 and 35 yards -- the latter of which went for a touchdown. Maye's performance was otherwise dominated by negative plays, as he was sacked six times for a loss of 43 yards, and he also turned the ball over three times -- two of which led directly to touchdowns for the Seahawks. Though it was a disappointing close to the season, Maye had a breakout sophomore campaign by posting a 31:8 TD:INT while averaging 8.9 yards per attempt across 17 regular-season games.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Patriots made Maye the third overall pick in this year’s draft, hoping he’s the QB of the future that Mac Jones failed to be. Jones, the 15th overall pick in 2021, was traded in March to Jacksonville. Maye will compete for the starting job with free-agent acquisition Jacoby Brissett. Even if Maye isn’t the Week 1 starter, he likely will be under center at some point. At 6-4, 223, Maye has prototypical size, with a strong and talented arm that can both attack defenses deep and slip balls into tight windows. Scouts praised his vision and anticipation, and he’s an athletic dual threat who rushed for 1,147 yards and 16 TDs his last two years at North Carolina. Maye is a bit of a gunslinger, prone to ill-advised passes, and inconsistent mechanics and poor footwork at times hurt his accuracy, especially on routine short throws. But the Patriots have time to develop that while Brissett handles QB duty. The bigger issue is a lack of playmakers. The WR depth chart is topped by Kendrick Borne, who is coming off an ACL injury, and Demario Douglas, a 2023 sixth-round pick who failed to score last season. Second-round rookie Ja’Lynn Polk might already be the best wide receiver, and tight end Hunter Henry could be the No. 2 target. Maye, however, at least gives the Patriots hope in the post-Belichick era.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Losing Diggs to release
Maye will see No. 1 receiver Stefon Diggs be released by the Patriots at the start of the new league year, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Maye and Diggs formed a productive connection during their one season together, with the latter generating an 85-1,013-4 line on 102 targets across 17 regular-season games. Maye then recorded another 14 completions for 110 yards and a touchdown to Diggs in New England's four-game postseason run, but the third-year signal-caller will be forced to adapt to a new No. 1 option as he tries to take another step forward in 2026.
