2025 Fantasy Outlook
Widely projected as a Day 2 pick last spring, Franklin ended up falling to the top of the fourth round despite putting up 2,274 receiving yards and 23 TDs over his final two seasons at Oregon. His thin frame (6-2, 176) was a major concern, with a 4.41 40 being good by most standards but not so much so for a player his size. Franklin didn't do much to alleviate those doubts during his rookie season in Denver, reaching 50 percent snap share just twice and finishing with some of the worst per-target numbers in the league (52.8 percent catch rate, 5.0 YPT, 9.4 YPR). Courtland Sutton, meanwhile, had arguably the best season of his career despite a slow start, with 2023 second-round pick Marvin Mims coming on strong in December to give rookie QB Bo Nix a second weapon. The Broncos didn't add much at WR this offseason but did sign TE Evan Engram, which likely leaves Franklin to compete for the third or fourth spot on the depth chart in an offense where the No. 3 role may not entail many targets. ANALYSIS
Franklin maintained his activity level from Wednesday, while fellow WR Pat Bryant (concussion) upgraded from limited to full. Both players made early departures from this past Saturday's divisional-round win against the Bills, but Franklin himself has just one more chance to prove his health before Denver potentially tags him with a designation ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game versus the Patriots.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hyped as a likely Day 1 or 2 draft pick, Franklin ended up falling to the fourth round, where Denver made an aggressive trade-up to take him with the second pick of Day 3 (102nd overall). The move pairs him with his college quarterback, Bo Nix, who helped Franklin break Oregon's single-season records for receiving yards (1,383), receiving TDs (14) and 100-yard games (eight). Franklin also holds the program record for career receiving TDs (25) and consecutive games with a reception (30, dating back to his true freshman season), and it's not like he embarrassed himself at the 2024 Combine (4.41 40 and 39-inch vertical). His other workout numbers were less impressive, however, especially for one of the thinnest WR prospects we've seen over the past few decades (6-2, 176). The lanky build and lack of strength largely explain why NFL teams were so skeptical of an early declare with huge college production who will be 21 years old his entire rookie season. Franklin's youth means there are better odds for him to add significant weight once he's in an NFL strength program, though it might cost him speed and agility. He at least has a clear path to playing time if he proves he belongs, with Josh Reynolds, Tim Patrick (ACL) and 2023 second-round pick Marvin Mims being the other candidates for Denver's No. 2 receiver job opposite Courtland Sutton.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Vele trade boosts opportunity
WRDenver Broncos
August 20, 2025
Franklin, who has been impressing throughout training camp and the first two preseason games, is now likely to enjoy an even bigger role than he was projected for in 2025 following the trade of Devaughn Vele to the Saints on Wednesday, as reported by Jeff Legwold and Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
There's already been plenty of buzz surrounding the second-year wideout this summer, with Franklin's two-touchdown game against the Cardinals in the Broncos' second preseason contest certainly fanning the flames. Wednesday's trade of Vele seemingly brightens Franklin's outlook even further, as it solidifies the latter's standing as the No. 3 receiver and also opens up more target opportunities.
