2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lock rejoins the Seahawks after spending last season with the Giants, where he started five games and posted 5.9 YPA and a 6:5 TD:INT, although four of those touchdowns were in one game. The 28-year-old is a steady but underwhelming backup, making him a solid fit in Seattle with Sam Darnold locked in as the starter and rookie third-round pick Jalen Milroe likely needing time to develop. However, if Darnold gets hurt or benched, there's a decent chance that Milroe gets the nod over Lock, if only because of fan pressure. Read Past Outlooks
Remains No. 2 with Darnold active
Lock is poised to remain the backup QB behind Sam Darnold (oblique) after the latter was deemed active for Saturday's divisional-round game against the 49ers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Darnold's status for Seattle's postseason opener came into question after he made an early exit from Thursday's practice due to an oblique injury. Both Darnold and coach Mike Macdonald remained confident that the quarterback would be able to suit up, but in the meantime Lock was getting the first-team reps, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Now that Darnold is active and Jalen Milroe is inactive as the emergency third quarterback, Lock will settle back into his normal role.

Lock signed with the Giants in March as the backup to Daniel Jones, who might not be ready for the start of the season after a November ACL injury and hasn’t exactly cemented himself as the Giants’ long-term answer anyway. The door seemingly is cracked for Lock to take the starting job, at least early in the season. That wasn’t the case the last two years in Seattle, where Lock was firmly behind Geno Smith, which partially explains why he bolted for New York. At 6-4, 228, Lock has prototypical size and arm strength, and he was credible in two starts for an injured Smith last season, completing 68.8 percent of his attempts at a 7.5-yard average depth. He won’t have as much help in New York, with Malik Nabers, the sixth overall pick in this year’s draft, leading an otherwise mediocre group of skill-position players that had Saquon Barkley replaced by Devin Singletary this offseason.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Thrust into playoff starting mix
Lock logged some first-team quarterback reps Thursday and Sam Darnold is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the 49ers in the NFC divisional round due to an oblique injury, per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune.
ANALYSIS
Darnold focused on rehab in Thursday's practice after he started to feel discomfort in his oblique. As a result, Lock took over running the first-team offense, and Lock would start Saturday's playoff game if Darnold isn't available. Seattle relied primarily on its defense and running game en route to 14 wins in the regular season, so either quarterback would likely just be tasked with game-manager duties, though neither Darnold nor Lock has won a playoff game.
