2025 Projections
Signs new three-year deal
The Broncos re-signed Trautman to a three-year, $17 million contract Sunday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
A favorite of coach Sean Payton, Trautman has spent time with the head coach in New Orleans and Denver and logged 57 percent of the offensive snaps across 17 regular-season games last season. Trautman doesn't do much on the stat sheet but is a trusted blocker. He secured 20 of 23 targets for 195 yards and one touchdown during the 2025 campaign.

Trautman followed head coach Sean Payton from New Orleans to Denver, and after starting 12 games with the Saints in 2022, the 6-foot-5 tight end made 12 starts for the Broncos in 2023. Most of Trautman’s value comes from his blocking ability, as his three touchdowns last season marked a career high and the highest yardage total of his four-year career is a modest 263 from 2021. Oft-injured 2022 third-round draft pick Greg Dulcich has a far higher ceiling than Trautman as a pass catcher, and unheralded third-stringer Lukas Krull flashed some promise down the stretch in 2023, but Trautman’s probably the favorite to lead all of Denver’s tight ends in snaps once again. His track record suggests that playing time won’t lead to meaningful production, though.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Top TE due to Engram absence
With Evan Engram ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Trautman will serve as the Broncos' top tight end while Nate Adkins and Lucas Krull serve in rotational roles.
ANALYSIS
Trautman out-snapped Engram during the Broncos' Week 2 loss to the Colts, likely due to the latter working through a back injury that will force him to miss Sunday's AFC West clash. Trautman caught three passes for 10 yards and a touchdown in Denver's Week 2 loss, and he should see another bump in his snap count in Engram's absence. Trautman and the Broncos are facing a Chargers defense that yielded seven catches on 10 targets for 47 yards between tight ends Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer in a Week 2 win over the Raiders.
