Moerstedt is out for Saturday's match against St. Pauli due to an illness, according to manager Christian Ilzer.

Moerstedt signed a contract extension on the long term with Hoffenheim, the club announced. "Max is another example of the successful path our academy has taken in Hoffenheim. He proved himself early on, was gradually introduced to professional football, and seized his opportunities. We are convinced that Max still has great potential for development and are very pleased that he will be a long-term asset to our squad," says Andreas Schicker.

Moerstedt (Achilles) was on the bench for Friday's 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg, confirming he has recovered from his injury.
