Rough going in UFC debut
MiddleweightUFC
February 28, 2026
Schultz lost to Damian Pinas via TKO (punches) at 2:30 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
In a battle of two guys making their official company debut, Schultz looked awful. He spent the entirety of the brief bout serving as a punching bag for the hard-hitting Pinas. All of the damage he absorbed forced Schultz into six takedown attempts, each of which failed. A wrestler by trade, the Wisconsin native simply doesn't have the stand-up skills to get away with his one-dimensional offensive arsenal. Schultz will probably be fighting for his job his next time out.

Schultz is scheduled to compete against Damian Pinas in a middleweight fight at UFC Mexico on Feb. 28, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Schultz emerged from Dana White's Contender Series with a creative win via a Suloev stretch. The submission earned him a UFC contract, which will begin with a fight in February 2026. Schultz is 8-2 professionally, and his opponent is 8-1, also a newcomer from the DWCS.
Gets creative to earn contract

Schultz defeated Mario Mingaj via submission (Suloev stretch) at 1:51 of Round 1 at Dana White's Contender Series on Tuesday. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be officially awarded a UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Schultz took the initiative early, swinging wide power shots until one clipped the chin of his opponent. "Party Time" was able to take the back from there, locking up the hamstring stretch when his opponent tried to shake free. As a three-time All-American wrestler, Schultz is a potentially interesting addition to the middleweight roster. It should be noted, however, that his two career losses have come against UFC veterans Mansur Abdul-Malik and Dylan Budka, which may suggest something about his readiness for the highest level. Schultz improved to 8-2-0 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
