The Bengals will not place the franchise tag on Hendrickson (hip/pelvis) by Tuesday's deadline, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After two contentious offseasons between the two sides, Cincinnati will allow the veteran pass rusher to reach free agency. Injuries limited Hendrickson to just seven regular-season games in 2025, in which span he tallied 16 tackles (11 solo) including 4.0 sacks, plus one pass defensed and one forced fumble. However, he played all 17 regular-season games in both 2023 and 2024 and tallied 17.5 sacks each of those years, a ceiling that will make the 31-year-old defensive end one of the top available free agents on the open market. He's recovering from December core-muscle surgery, but it isn't expected to be an issue once his new team's offseason program begins in earnest.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2022
2021
Hendrickson had the best season of his career in 2023 by nearly any measure. That began with his ability to stay on the field, as he managed to play a full season for the first time since 2021. The result was a career-high 714 defensive snaps, 17.5 sacks and 43 total tackles. Hendrickson's calling card remains his ability as a pass rusher, and he's finished no worse than 11th in quarterback pressures in each of the last three years (per PFF). While he's unlikely to replicate his sack total from last season, his ability to get to the quarterback consistently illustrates his ability to disrupt offenses and rack up production. Hendrickson's limitations as a defender against the run will cut out some of his upside relative to the elite defensive lineman, but there will be a nearly guaranteed level of production for anyone rostering him.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
To reunite with old DC in Indy?
Matt Okada of NFL.com believes that Hendrickson could sign with the Colts this offseason to reunite with former Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.
ANALYSIS
Hendrickson was limited to just seven regular-season games in 2025 due to hip and pelvic injuries and will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career. He was named a Pro Bowler in four consecutive seasons from 2021 to 2024, during which the Bengals' defense was run by Anarumo, who is now the DC for the Colts. Okada notes that Indianapolis needs to add an elite pass rusher this season and believes that signing Hendrickson would fit that bill.
