2025 Fantasy Outlook
Benson was viewed as a raw prospect out of Florida State, so the fact that he played only 131 snaps as a rookie doesn't prove anything conclusively. He overcame a brutal knee injury at Oregon before transferring to Florida State, which explains why the 2024 third-round pick finished his collegiate career with so little usage (316 career carries). What made Benson interesting as a prospect was his unusual combination of speed (4.39 40) and size (6-feet, 216 pounds). Few prospects can boast the sum of physical force and breakaway speed that Benson does on a given play, and that's what allowed him to be so productive with his limited touches at FSU (6.1 yards per carry, 24 rushing touchdowns). If Benson can iron out the rougher parts of his game, the results could be impressive. In the meantime, though, he remains a developmental guy behind a proven workhorse in James Conner. RANKS
Out Week 14, may not return in 2025
Benson (knee) won't play in Sunday's game against the Rams and isn't certain to be activated from injured reserve this season, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
On Friday, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon didn't go into any detail but acknowledged the possibility of Benson missing the rest of the season. The team opened his 21-day practice window two weeks ago, with Benson initially logging limited practices before downgrading to non-participation last Thursday. He hasn't practiced since, leaving Bam Knight and Michael Carter to handle backfield reps, with Emari Demercado (ankle) perhaps now set to reenter the mix after missing Weeks 12 and 13. In order for Benson to play again this season, he would need to be activated from IR by the middle of next week, even if he's not ready to play by next Sunday.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Benson fell to the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft in part because of durability concerns related to a brutal multi-ligament knee tear at Oregon at the end of the 2020 season. He came back strong at Florida State in 2022 and 2023 to play 26 consecutive games and score 24 touchdowns, though his upright running style invites big hits at times. Beyond those concerns, Benson is close to blue-chip across most considerations. Few runners combine home run speed with standout raw power, but Benson showed both traits at FSU and then confirmed it at the Combine with a 4.39 40 at 6-0, 216. He was immensely explosive as a mid-volume, high-efficiency runner for the Seminoles, averaging 6.1 yards on 316 carries across two seasons, so he could make an impact in Arizona coming out of the bullpen behind James Conner. Conner had one of his best seasons in 2023 and won't be pushed aside easily, but his extensive injury history gives reason to project a start or two for Benson in an improving Arizona offense.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Continues limited practices
Benson, who remains on injured reserve due to a knee injury, participated in limited fashion for the fourth consecutive practice Wednesday, Zach Gershman of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The second-year back began practicing as soon as he was designated to return from injured reserve last Wednesday, but he was ruled out for the Week 12 contest against the Jaguars at the end of last week. However, it appears Benson could have a good chance to jump back into action for Sunday's matchup against the Buccaneers, which would be a homecoming of sorts for Benson considering he finished his college career with a pair of seasons at Florida State.
