Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Last year was supposed to be when Stevenson took a dominant lead in the New England backfield, as the Patriots gave the 2021 fourth-round pick a four-year, $36 million extension before the start of the season. It was a massive disappointment when Stevenson endured the worst season of his NFL career. It wasn't all truly awful -- 3.9 YPC was a decent enough average given the dysfunctional state of New England's offensive line -- but Stevenson's seven fumbles were a ghastly number. The Patriots toyed with benching him multiple times, eventually pulling the trigger in Week 17 (two touches) and Week 18 (zero snaps). Fumbling has been an off-and-on issue for Stevenson in the NFL, with seven on 620 touches before 2024, so even on his extended contract he won't have job security under Mike Vrabel's new coaching staff. That's even more so the case after the Patriots took TreVeyon Henderson with the 38th pick in this year's draft, giving Stevenson stiff competition for the lead backfield role. Stevenson otherwise has excellent fantasy upside, at least theoretically, due to his combination of size, balance and passing-down viability, which allows him to stay on the field in all situations and handle both goal-line carries and dump-off targets. If he gets it together, Stevenson can be part of the story of how the Patriots offense rebuilt itself. If not, he'll quickly become a forgotten man in a Henderson-led backfield. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Leading rusher in Sunday's win
Stevenson carried the ball 16 times for 70 yards and caught all four of his targets for 11 yards in the Patriots' 28-16 win over the Texans in the divisional round.
ANALYSIS
Despite leaving the game briefly due to an eye injury, Stevenson led New England in carries as well as rushing and scrimmage yards. The fifth-year RB has yet to get into the end zone in two playoff games, but he's still made an impact with 209 scrimmage yards. Stevenson should have a significant role in the offense again next weekend in Denver for the AFC Championship Game.

2021
The collapse of the New England offense fell hard on Stevenson in 2023, smothering what could have been a productive season for the talented running back before a severe high ankle sprain ended his campaign in Week 13. An improved New England offense isn't exactly guaranteed in 2024, though the Patriots would be hard-pressed to create an offense as bad as last year's even if they tried. After averaging 4.8 yards per carry over his first two seasons, Stevenson dropped to 4.0 under the weight of New England's struggles last year, which still put him well ahead of backup Ezekiel Elliott (3.5 YPC). At 6-0, 227, Stevenson is well built for large workloads, and he's also good enough as a pass catcher and blocker that he doesn't need to be taken off the field much at all. The Patriots replaced Elliott with Antonio Gibson this offseason and will again have two backs that offer both size and passing-down skills, but Stevenson is safe as the lead runner even if Gibson also has a role.

Third straight absence on tap
Stevenson will miss a third straight game Thursday night against the Jets due to his toe injury, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stevenson was ruled out Wednesday, as the short turnaround from Week 10 to Week 11 proved to be too much for the running back's recovery curve. The Patriots were also likely encouraged by the fact there's a more-than-capable replacement in rookie TreVeyon Henderson, who recorded a career-high 147 rushing yards against the Buccaneers on Sunday.
