Four-year deal with Commanders
LBWashington Commanders
March 9, 2026
Oweh agreed to terms Monday on a four-year, $100 million contract with Washington, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Oweh got off to a slow start in 2025, as he was held without a sack across five games with the Ravens, but he surged upon being traded to the Chargers and totaled 28 tackles (15 solo), including 7.5 sacks, across 12 regular-season appearances with Los Angeles. The 27-year-old also had 3.0 sacks in his lone playoff appearances, the Chargers' wild-card round loss to New England, so it's unsurprising to see the Commanders invest substantially in a bet on his upward trajectory. Oweh will now look to maximize his talents as a pass rusher under new defensive coordinator Daronte Jones.

Though Baltimore picked up Oweh's fifth-year option this offseason, this is still a pivotal year for the 2021 first-rounder. Oweh has not quite tapped into his immense potential through three seasons. At 6-5 with 34.5-inch arms and 4.39 speed, the tools are there for Oweh to thrive. 13 career sacks for an edge rusher shows that there's still a way to go for Oweh, however. There's risk in drafting Oweh given his track record, but those who believe in a breakout could be handsomely rewarded if he puts it all together.
The 2021 first-rounder is looking to get on track after two uneven seasons to start his career. Oweh is clearly a toolsy athlete with the length (34.5-inch arms at 6-foot-5) and speed (4.39 40) to be a disruptive pass rusher. He needs to maximize those gifts, however, as he registered just three sacks on 611 snaps last season. This is a pivotal campaign for Oweh as Baltimore will make a decision on his fifth-year option next spring and the Ravens spent a fourth-round pick on an edge rusher to bring in extra competition.
The rookie first-rounder could bring a spark to a pass rush that is badly in need of one, especially after Matthew Judon's departure. Oweh did not record a sack in his last season at Penn State, but his film and elite athleticism still made him worthy of a first-round pick. He will compete for an immediate role as he projects as arguably the Ravens' best pass-rushing prospect despite the lack of collegiate production.

Top-10 free agent?
LBLos Angeles Chargers
February 27, 2026
Oweh is ranked as the No. 9 free agent by Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Rosenthal lauds Oweh's burgeoning pass-rush skills, which came to the forefront after he was acquired by the Chargers from the Ravens in October. Oweh recorded 9.5 sacks from Week 8 through the wild-card loss to the Patriots, and although he's not very consistent against the run, Rosenthal points out teams typically pay up for pass-rush skills in free agency.
