2025 Fantasy Outlook
Joseph cashed in with a four-year contract extension in the offseason, which was well-deserved after another impressive campaign in 2024. The safety registered 83 total tackles while also adding 12 passes defensed, including an NFL-leading nine interceptions, over 17 regular-season games. Joseph has now snatched 17 picks over three years in Detroit, and he ranks second to only linebacker Alex Anzalone (317) in total tackles since 2022, posting 248 stops over that time. He once again figures to be at the top of his position in production in the league this season. Read Past Outlooks

December 3, 2025
Joseph (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday's game versus the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Joseph hasn't played since suffering a knee injury in Week 6 versus the Chiefs, but he was never placed on injured reserve. The 2022 third-round pick was a non-participant during practice Tuesday and Wednesday. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, Joseph is hopeful to play in Week 15 versus the Rams. He'll need to ramp up his practice time next week first, and until he returns, Thomas Harper will remain the team's starting free safety.

2022
Joseph had himself an impressive 2023 campaign with Detroit, securing 82 tackles, 11 pass deflections and four interceptions while not allowing a touchdown in coverage over 15 games. The 23-year-old will enter his third season in the NFL as the Lions' undisputed top option at free safety as both Tracy Walker and C.J. Gardner-Johnson no longer are in the picture. Joseph could be set to cross the 100-tackle threshold this season while working alongside Brian Branch in what Detroit's defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn hopes to be an improved secondary in 2024.
Joseph had a good rookie season but now has more competition for snaps after the Lions added C.J. Gardner-Johnson and two other reputable cornerbacks to help Tracy Walker lead the secondary. And that was before also spending a 2023 second-round pick on safety Brian Branch. Considering Joseph didn't see a play on defense last season until after Walker tore his Achilles in Week 3, this influx of talent at defensive back seems to pose a big threat towards Joseph continuing to log 100 percent of the snaps on a game-by-game basis this year.
There are high expectations for the third-round rookie, and Joseph has drawn praise from his coaches during training camp. While DeShon Elliott seems to have a solid hold on the starting spot at safety next to Tracy Walker this year, Joseph is the future at that position.

Knee issue is long-term concern
SDetroit Lions
December 2, 2025
Joseph will likely have to manage his knee injury even after he can return to the field, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Joseph has been sidelined since Week 7 and missed each of the Lions' last six games. He practiced for the first time since suffering the injury Monday, logging a limited practice. However, he remains without a clear timeline to return to game action. Joseph also suggested through his own comments that he isn't likely to be fully healed this season, which could limit his snaps and role down the stretch.
