2025 Fantasy Outlook
Pettis joined the Saints' practice squad in October and played in the final eight games last season, catching 12 of 28 targets for 120 yards and one touchdown. He then signed a one-year deal with New Orleans in March. Since his 2018 rookie campaign, the 29-year-old has not finished a season with more than 19 catches or 245 yards. However, with six campaigns of experience as a depth receiver, Pettis has a good chance to carve out a similar role in a Saints receiving corps that's light on proven reserves. Read Past Outlooks
Joins active roster
The Saints signed Pettis from their practice squad to the active roster Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The 2018 second-round pick from Washington has appeared in each of the Saints' last three games, catching his lone target for 14 yards while also accumulating 126 kick-return yards and 30 punt-return yards. Now with the active roster, Pettis will likely remain a depth option in New Orleans' receiving corps while operating as the top return man in the Week 14 matchup against the Buccaneers.

Entering his sixth year in the league, Pettis hasn't come close to reaching the 27 receptions, 465 total yards and five touchdowns he had as a rookie with the 49ers in 2018. However, in his first year with the Bears last season, his 282 yards and three TDs represented his best production in a campaign since then. Regardless, Pettis' track record indicates he'll remain a depth receiver in 2023. He's expected to compete for a reserve role with Equanimeous St. Brown, Tyler Scott and Velus Jones behind DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be elevated Thursday
Pettis is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad prior to Thursday's game against the Broncos, as Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports that Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed have been ruled out due to a concussion and knee injury, respectively.
ANALYSIS
Pettis may not have to wait long to make his Saints debut after signing with New Orleans' practice squad Tuesday. He has logged 31 regular-season punt returns in an NFL career that began in 2018, so Pettis is a logical option to take on that role in Shaheed's absence. Despite limited knowledge of the team's playbook, Pettis could also provide some depth at wide receiver, as the Saints have only three healthy wideouts on the roster heading into Thursday's game.
