Rodriguez rushed the ball 16 times for 65 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Eagles. He added one reception on one target for 18 yards.
ANALYSIS
Jacory Croskey-Merritt was the starting running back, though Rodriguez ultimately turned out to lead the backfield in touches. Rodriguez was also the more effective back, logging two rushes of more than 10 yards in addition to a one-yard touchdown plunge midway through the second quarter. The effort concluded Rodriguez's best season of his career, as he recorded exactly 500 rushing yards with six scores across 13 games. He'll be a restricted free agent this offseason, meaning there's a strong chance he returns as a backfield option for Washington in 2026.

2023
A 2023 sixth-round pick, Rodriguez didn't get double-digit snaps on offense until Week 11 last year but flashed upside once he did. He averaged 4.8 yards per carry, and his 2.4-yard average after contact would have been a top-five mark in the league if he'd seen enough volume to qualify. Rodriguez suffered a season-ending ankle injury Week 16, and while he should be healthy in time for training camp, he'll like be third on the depth chart behind Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler. It is possible new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury isn't as fond of Robinson as the old coaching staff was, and the 224-pound Rodriguez can offer a similar element of powerful running between the tackles.
Rodriguez landed in Washington in the sixth round of the 2023 Draft, after a prolific college career at Kentucky with 3,600 rushing yards and 33 TDs over the past four seasons. He only caught 20 passes, and a 4.52 40 at his pro day suggests the 224-pounder is more likely to be a power back than a big-play threat in the NFL. That could put him in play for some of the work 2022 third-rounder Brian Robinson got last season en route to a 205-797-2 rushing line in 12 games. The Commanders also still have Antonio Gibson, who got a career-high 58 targets last season despite competing with J.D. McKissic for passing-down snaps in the first half of the year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Most efficient Washington RB
RBWashington Commanders
January 29, 2026
Rodriguez's advanced stats in 2025 were much more impressive than Jacory Croskey-Merritt's, according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez ranked fifth among all NFL running backs with .03 rush expected points added, or EPA, per carry, while Croskey-Merritt averaged -0.06 EPA per rush attempt. Rodriguez also had an impressive 29 missed tackles forced and averaged 3.46 yards per contact per carry while posting a success rate of 45.5 percent. Washington will likely look to bolster its backfield in the offseason, but if the Commanders bring back Rodriguez, who is set to be a restricted free agent in the offseason, there is a good chance Rodriguez will slot in ahead of Croskey-Merritt on the depth chart based on their performance in 2025.
