2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Running backs with 4.7 speed rarely receive starting consideration in the NFL – most of them have been moved to fullback by then – but Skattebo (5-foot-10, 219 pounds) could prove an exceptional case. He was outrageously productive at Arizona State and Sacramento State, leading the Giants to select him with the third pick in the fourth round of the 2025 Draft (105th overall). If Skattebo can make it in the NFL, it would likely be due to his extremely powerful running in traffic and standout short-area explosiveness. As bad as his 40 time is, Skattebo plays a tick faster thanks to his instant, almost infallible processing and powerful burst (39.5-inch vertical, 123-inch broad jump). In other words, Skattebo can't run away from anyone but might be able to dice up defenses with chunk gains. He runs with rare hostility and instantly lowers his center of gravity to absorb contact with impressive leverage, making it difficult for defenses to trap him once he gets to the second level. Tyrone Tracy was a promising pick for the Giants in 2024 and could remain their starter, but Skattebo is the much more powerful and volume-capable player of the two. With workhorse potential and standout pass-catching ability, Skattebo has big-time fantasy upside despite his 4.7 40 and the presence of Tracy. Read Past Outlooks

Heads to IR, season over
New York placed Skattebo (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After dislocating his right ankle in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Eagles, Skattebo underwent season-ending surgery hours later, with head coach Brian Daboll relaying that "all went well" with the operation, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. Skattebo has been discharged from the hospital and is able to begin rehabbing right away, but he's without a specific timeline for a return and may not be back to 100 percent health by the start of the 2026 campaign. The fourth-round pick out of Arizona State had emerged as the Giants' lead back prior to suffering the devastating injury, and he'll finish his rookie season with 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 carries to go with a 24-207-2 receiving line on 32 targets over eight games. Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary are slated to fill the void in the New York backfield.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Top 2025 rookie RB per MJD
Maurice Jones-Drew of NFL.com ranks Skattebo as the top running back in the 2025 rookie draft class in Thursday's hypothetical.
ANALYSIS
As a former standout NFL running back himself, Jones-Drew believes Skattebo contributed the most to his team's success out of all rookie running backs to log at least 50 carries through Week 11. Skattebo is sidelined for the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury, but his powerful running style and ability to break tackles should help Skattebo excel once he regains health. Jones-Drew believes Skattebo should have been a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and ranks the Giants running back ahead of Raiders rookie sixth overall pick Ashton Jeanty.
