2025 Fantasy Outlook
Bresee is coming off a 2024 campaign in which he led the Saints in sacks with 7.5 over 17 regular-season games. The 2023 first-round pick also took on a larger role with the first 11 starts of his career. New Orleans is shifting to a new 3-4 defensive scheme, which will likely limit the amount of snaps available for defensive linemen. Bresee is a disruptive pass rusher on the interior, but his 49 career tackles over two seasons yield unreliable IDP value. Read Past Outlooks

Knee
January 2, 2026
Bresee (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Falcons, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Bresee hasn't returned to practice since sustaining a knee injury in the Week 16 win over the Jets, so it's no surprise he'll be sidelined Sunday. The third-year pro from Clemson had a relatively underwhelming 2025 campaign, recording 37 total tackles, including 2.5 sacks, three passes defensed and one forced fumble over 15 appearances. Expect Jonathan Bullard and John Ridgeway to have expanded roles on New Orleans' defensive line while Bresee and Nathan Shepherd (ankle) are sidelined in Week 18.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Bresee led the Saints' defensive tackles with 4.5 sacks during his 2023 rookie season despite never starting a game across 17 regular-season contests. The first-round pick will likely once again push for a signficant snap share while rotating snaps with starters Nathan Shepherd and Khalen Saunders.
Bresee showed stretches of dominance while starting as a true freshman at Clemson in 2020. However, his status as a potential top-10 pick slipped away as he struggled to perform at a consistent level over his final two collegiate campaigns. Standing at 6-6, 298 pounds, the 29th overall pick in this year's draft should be able to contribute as a unique, powerful athlete at multiple spots on the Saints defensive line, which doesn't return any proven playmakers from last season outside of Cameron Jordan.

Pushing for starting role
DTNew Orleans Saints
August 12, 2023
Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com expects Bresee to earn a starting role by the beginning of the regular season.
ANALYSIS
The proverbial light bulb seems to have turned on for the rookie first-round pick in recent practices, as Bresee has started to consistently generate interior pressure and disrupt plays. Nathan Shepherd and Khalen Saunders are the Saints' nominal starters at defensive tackle heading into preseason play, but Duncan believes Bresee will displace one of them as a starter by the time the games start to count.
