Fantasy College Basketball Waiver Wire: Pickups of the Week

This article is part of our College Basketball Waiver Wire series.

We've made it to February which means it is time for a final playoff push in fantasy college basketball. Hopefully this column has provided some help along the way and your team is in good position. This week we have a number of players who have seen their value skyrocket and could help fantasy managers down the stretch.

Power Conferences

Sam Hoiberg, G, Nebraska (Fantrax Ownership: 2%)

Hoiberg is playing just like a coach's son. He takes care of the ball, is very efficient and sets the tone on defense. Hoiberg might be the smallest man on the court most nights but the numbers he has been putting up of late are very impressive. Over the last six games he is averaging 12.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.5 three-pointers while shooting 61 percent from the field and 47 percent from behind the arc.

Riley Kugel, G, UCF (3%)

Kugel was mentioned in this column back in Week 1, but his ownership hasn't seen much movement despite being quite productive for a UCF team that looks to be on its way to making the NCAA Tournament. After a cool stretch in early December, Kugel has been putting up 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.2 three-pointers over the last 10 games. Most of the beef in UFC's Big 12 schedule came on the early end, as they have just two games against the top six teams in the conference over the final nine games of the regular season. Kugel is in position to roll.

Jaylin Sellers, G, Providence (2%)

Sellers seems like a good player to bring up next. He was also mentioned in this column earlier this season and played for UCF the last two seasons, but his value has never been higher. Sellers is averaging 19.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists over the last four games. Providence is also very thin in the backcourt right now with Jason Edwards and Corey Floyd both out with injuries. The Friars play in a lot of shootouts which is going to make Sellers an interesting play this week with Butler and DePaul on tap.

Lajae Jones, G, Florida State (2%)

Jones has scored at least 20 fantasy points in each of his last six games. That is a stretch in which the 6-7 wing is averaging 11.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 three-pointers per contest. Jones is only guard eligible on Fantrax despite playing the majority of his minutes of late at the power forward position. Nevertheless, its hard to find that kind of rebounding production from a guard eligible player. Florida State has won three of the last four games.

Vince Iwuchukwu, F/C, Georgetown (2%)

There's some potential long-term upside with Iwuchukwu who in eight games since returning after having heart surgery has put up 10.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks per contest. The former top 30 recruit started on Saturday against Butler and went for 17 points and six rebounds in the win. Iwuchukwu may continue to see his usage rise with Julius Halaifonua nursing an injury and Georgetown not having much to lose after losing six straight in conference play during January.

Eric Dailey, G/F/C, UCLA (6%)

Dailey has been pretty solid over the past month averaging 12.4 points and 6.8 rebounds over the last eight games. What stands out even more is his 26.1 percent usage rate during that stretch. Those numbers have coincided with Skyy Clark contiuing to remain out with a hamstring injury. Dailey seems to be thriving in his role as a bigger small forward at 6-8 230 pounds alongside Tyler Bilodeau and Xavier Booker

Trent Perry, G, UCLA (1%)

That brings us to Perry who has taken off since being inserted into the starting lineup. The 6-4 sophomore has started the last eight games and is putting up 16.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.0 three-pointers and 1.5 steals per game. Coach Mick Cronin has been unhappy about his team's defense recently, but all these shootouts certainly are good for UCLA players from a fantasy perspective. It's unclear why Skyy Clark is going to be back, but even when he does I'm not sure you can take Perry off the floor.

Nate Kingz, G, Syracuse (1%)

Kingz is coming off a 28-point effort last Saturday in the win over Notre Dame in which he drained five three-pointers and added three steals. That was his second game with at least 27 points in his last five, a stretch in which Kingz is averaging 16.6 points, 3.2 three-pointers, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals. There could be some volatile performances, but the upside is certainly there if you are feeling frisky.

Other Conferences

Terrence Hill, G, VCU

Over the last 12 games you'd be hard pressed to find a better sixth man in college basketball than Hill. He has had at least 12 points in all of those and is averaging 16.7 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 three-pointers per contest. That all comes in just 26.1 MPG, which speaks to Hill's 28.1 percent usage rate during that stretch. VCU takes on Fordham and Dayton this week.

Justice Ajogbor, F/C, St. Joseph's

Ajogbor is the perfect option for any fantasy managers that are in need of help in the blocks department. He leads the A-10 at 2.4 BPG. Ajogbor has also topped 30 fantasy points twice in the last four games. During that stretch he is averaging 7.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. Ajogbor is a big reason for the Hawks' recent hot streak that they will look to keep rolling this week against George Washington and George Mason.

Baboucarr Njie, F/C, Texas-San Antonio

Njie is another shot-blocking specialist, but he has been even more productive across other categories of late. Over the last five games Njie is racking up 14.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.4 blocks and 2.0 assists per contest. The blocks obviously stand out the most, but the uptick in scoring also deserves mentioned considering prior to this stretch he failed to crack double figures in 10 of 11 games. Macaleab Rich being ruled out for the season a few weeks ago really seems to have sparked this production at power forward for Njie.

Uriah Tenette, G, New Mexico

New Mexico is a team many have on the bubble right now to make the NCAA Tournament. Tenette is doing his best to keep the Lobos on the right side of that with his play of late. The 5-11 freshman guard is averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 three-pointers over the last four games. Deyton Albury continues to start at PG, but this team might be better off with Tenette leading the way.
