2026 Fantasy Outlook
Corniell only needed 13 months from the time of his 2024 Tommy John surgery until he began his rehab assignment in July 2025. The 6-foot-3 righty quickly made up for lost time, logging a 1.89 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB in 38 innings, primarily in the upper levels, before making his big-league debut as a reliever in the final game of the 2025 season. He added 18 innings in the Arizona Fall League, where he was hit hard (7.50 ERA) while striking out 19 and walking seven. Corniell boasts five average or better pitches, although none of them are established plus offerings yet. He has typically shown above-average or better control and could be a No. 3 or No. 4 starter long term. Corniell will likely spend at least a couple months in the Triple-A rotation to start the year, but he'll be an option early in the year if the Rangers deal with injuries. Read Past Outlooks

2024 Fantasy Outlook
One of the most underrated pitchers yet to pitch at Double-A, Corniell had a dominant run across Single-A and High-A last season. The 6-foot-3 righty logged a 2.92 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 119 strikeouts in 101.2 innings while staying healthy throughout his age-19/20 season. He primarily works with a 94-mph fastball and a plus 84-mph sweeper, while mixing in an improving changeup and a cutter that was introduced last year. If Corniell had average command, he'd project as a back-end starter, but his above-average to plus command gives him a chance to be more of a No. 3 starter if he can keep refining his changeup. He was added to the 40-man roster as Rule 5 draft protection and will head to Double-A this season and doesn't turn 21 until June.
