2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Known for his high-end stuff and shaky control dating back to his draft year in 2023, Wiggins established himself as one of the better power pitching prospects in the upper minors in 2025. He threw 59.2 innings in 2024 -- his first year back from Tommy John surgery -- and built up to 78 innings in 2025. His 10.4 percent walk rate at Double-A was his best mark since Single-A in 2024, but he walked six in 9.2 innings at Triple-A. He mysteriously missed about two months, with a two-inning outing on July 19 sandwiched between, with the club citing arm fatigue. The 6-foot-6 Wiggins boasts one of the best fastballs in the minors -- an upper-90s behemoth that touches triple digits and has prototypical movement. His upper-80s hard slider is his best secondary while his changeup is an ascending third pitch. The tall righty held lefty hitters to a .492 OPS last season, so it seems he has the repertoire to start. His health and command are the two main things for him to master as a starter. If Wiggins stays relatively healthy, he could spend more time in the majors than the minors in 2026 and he offers a high strikeout ceiling. Just be prepared for some volatility, given his inconsistent command. Read Past Outlooks
Sent to minor-league camp
The Cubs sent Wiggins to minor-league camp Sunday.
Analysis
Wiggins got a taste of MLB action during spring training, but he's not on the 40-man roster and has only three career games at the Triple-A level, so a return to the minors always seemed likely. The 24-year-old is Chicago's top pitching prospect, and a strong season for him at Triple-A Iowa could force the Cubs to open up a 40-man spot at some point later in the year. Wiggins could be a fantasy force as soon as he arrives in the majors, though he may experience the typical growing pains that many young pitchers endure.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Takes step forward in 2025
Wiggins was a breakout prospect in the Cubs organization during the 2025 season, according to Jonathan Mayo, Jim Callis and Sam Dykstra of MLB.com.
Analysis
The Cubs wanted Wiggins to take the next step in his development during the 2025 season, and the former Arkansas standout did exactly that. He posted a 2.19 ERA and 97:36 K:BB in 78 innings while moving from High-A to Triple-A. If he doesn't suffer any injuries, Wiggins should pitch in the majors with the Cubs at some point during the 2026 campaign.
