The Sky underwent a complete overhaul last offseason, moving on from Candace Parker (Aces), Courtney Vandersloot (Liberty) and Allie Quigley (free agent), so Copper was thrust into a leading role in 2023 and thrived, averaging a career-high 18.7 points to go with 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals in 31.2 minutes per game. Chicago rewarded Copper with a multi-year extension last September, and she appeared to be on track to be the cornerstone of the rebuilding franchise. However, the 2021 WNBA Finals MVP was surprisingly traded from the Sky to the Mercury in February, leaving Chicago's roster in flux while joining what has become a viable playoff contender in Phoenix. While the 29-year-old won't be the clear-cut No. 1 option as part of a team that now includes players like Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Natasha Cloud and Rebecca Allen, Copper has proven her ability to make a real-life difference for her team and should remain a solid fantasy option in 2024. While her scoring production could take a hit with her new organization, she should have little trouble finding a prominent role in Phoenix.
