UEFA Champions League Best Bets: Jan. 28 Predictions, Picks & Odds (Matchday 8)
The league phase of the UEFA Champions League concludes Wednesday with an epic 18-game slate, with every match kicking off simultaneously at 3 PM ET as teams fight to secure knockout-stage spots. Below are our Champions League best bets, predictions, picks and odds for Wednesday, Jan. 28, including moneyline, single-game parlays, corner bets and anytime goalscorer plays.
Athletic Club vs. Sporting CP Best Bet: Moneyline Pick (Jan. 28)
Athletic Club to win +140
Athletic Club's recent form isn't turning any heads, coming off back-to-back losses in LaLiga, having won just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions excluding extra time (W1, D4, L5). However, the 3-2 comeback win over Atalanta in the previous UCL round boosted their qualification chances enormously, and a win over Sporting CP could be enough to secure a knockout berth depending on what happens in the other matches.
Sporting shocked the world with a 2-1 win over PSG in the previous UCL round and have won three games in a row in all competitions, but their road struggles could be a factor in this trip to San Mamés.
Sporting are winless in their last six UCL away matches (D2, L4) and have yet to defeat a Spanish team away from home in European competition (D4, L13). Meanwhile, Athletic have won seven of their last 10 European matches in front of their fans (W7, D1, L2), so a scenario in which they secure the victory can't be ruled out.
Borussia Dortmund vs. Inter Milan SGP Pick (Jan. 28)
Both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals, -117
Borussia Dortmund and Inter are separated by just one point in the standings, so the equation is simple, both teams will have to do everything in their power to secure the win, especially after their respective defeats to Tottenham and Arsenal in the previous round.
Dortmund went scoreless against the Spurs, but they remain one of the most prolific attacks in the UCL with 19 goals in seven matches (2.71 goals per game), and they could take advantage of Inter's recent defensive woes.
The Nerazzurri have lost their previous three UCL matches while conceding at least two goals twice, and each of those losses came against opponents from the Top 5 European leagues. Inter Milan can't be overlooked on offense, however, as they scored six goals against Pisa in the Serie A this past weekend and are averaging nearly two goals per game in the UCL league phase (1.85).
Given what's at stake for both clubs, this should be an end-to-end match. It could easily end with over 2.5 goals and both clubs scoring, something that's happened in four of Dortmund's seven Champions League matches.
PSV Eindhoven vs. Bayern Munich Best Corner Bet (Jan. 28)
Over 9.5 total corners, -125
PSV Eindhoven have their backs against the wall after their 3-0 defeat against Newcastle United, and they have the daunting task of getting a positive result against Bayern Munich to have a shot at reaching the knockout stages. Bayern Munich already secured a spot in the Round of 16, but Vincent Kompany's men will be looking to avenge their recent loss to Augsburg in the Bundesliga, a result that snapped their unbeaten run at the domestic level.
It's hard to see PSV getting a win over Bayern Munich, but one value bet could lie in the corners market. Six of PSV's seven matches in the UCL league phase have had at least nine corners, and while that has happened in just two of Bayern's, the value lies in PSV pushing the lines forward given their need to get a positive result.
Both teams exploit the flanks often as part of their attacking scheme, so the potential for over corners could be a decent bet if you're looking for something outside of the final result, as Bayern are overwhelming favorites.
FC Barcelona vs. FC Copenhagen Anytime Goalscorer Pick (Jan. 28)
Raphinha to score anytime, -130
FC Barcelona are looking to book a spot in the Round of 16, meaning they won't be resting any of their key players in this home matchup against a dangerous FC Copenhagen side that has proven to be a tough out in the past. Look for Los Blaugranas to establish dominance from the get-go, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha trying to set the tone for a Barça side that has 13 wins in their last 14 games in all competitions (W13, L1).
Copenhagen will probably focus their efforts on stopping Yamal, but Raphinha can't be overlooked. The Brazilian winger found the back of the net in the 3-0 win over Real Oviedo, a game in which he delivered a Man of the Match performance, and he's been on an absolute tear late.
He's regaining his 2024/25 form, having scored eight goals while adding two assists in his last eight appearances in all competitions. Raphinha should be one of the go-to scoring weapons for Barcelona in their quest for a R16 berth.
