January Transfers Ready To Play
Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi - Manchester City
Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi have already made strong early impressions since joining Manchester City and look capable of becoming reliable FPL assets. Semenyo has scored in each of his last two Premier League appearances and also found the net in both his FA Cup and EFL Cup debuts, quickly establishing himself as a high-upside attacking option.
Guehi has been equally solid at the back, collecting nine FPL points across his first two league matches for City. Manchester City have kept 10 clean sheets this season, the second most in the league, which immediately places Guehi on the radar as a defensive option with both security and upside.
Jorgen Strand Larsen - Crystal Palace
Strand Larsen made the move to Crystal Palace and was expected to replace Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was set for a move to AC Milan. The move didn't transpire due to an underlying knee injury, but the Strand Larsen transfer still went through. It now appears that Mateta will have surgery to have him 100 percent and ready to be an option for the World Cup and likely summer summer move.
Strand Larsen expects to come in as the man No. 9. His physical presence and aerial ability make him a natural target for Palace's overlapping wing-backs, and he could quickly become fantasy-relevant if service improves in the final third.
Conor Gallagher - Tottenham
Conor Gallagher has stepped straight into Tottenham's midfield and has already registered his first assist, linking up with Dominic Solanke against Manchester City. In his last Premier League season with Chelsea, Gallagher produced five goals and seven assists, highlighting his two-way fantasy appeal.
Across his first three matches since returning to the Premier League, Gallagher has flashed defensive contribution upside and looks well-positioned to offer steady returns if his role remains consistent.
January Signings To Monitor
Tammy Abraham - Aston Villa
Tammy Abraham returns to Villa Park after spending 2018/19 on loan there previously. In that campaign in the Championship, he scored 26 goals in 40 games. How Unai Emery integrates Abraham remains the key question, particularly with Ollie Watkins still the established first-choice striker. Watkins is dealing with a hamstring issue now, but when he's fully fit, playing time could be a concern for both.
Abraham scored seven goals in 15 starts for Beşiktaş earlier this season, suggesting form is not a concern. However, his fantasy value will depend heavily on whether Villa deploy a two-striker system or rotate minutes between Abraham and Watkins.
Rayan - Bournemouth
Rayan arrives at Bournemouth as a long-term Antoine Semenyo replacement. He played at Vasco Da Gama as a central forward, playing alongside former Premier League and FPL hero Philippe Coutinho. The 19-year-old scored 20 goals and provided one assist in 57 appearances in all competitions last season, and started this season with a brace for Vasco Da Gama.
He made his debut in the Premier League in GW24, coming on as a substitute for Amine Adli against Wolves. He provided an assist for the late goal, which put Bournemouth 2-0 ahead.
He'll be competing for a place alongside players such as Adli, Junior Kroupi, Marcus Tavernier and Justin Kluivert. This will keep his pitch time a little unpredictable and his minutes shared, though while Tavernier and Kluivert are injured, immediate minutes should be possible.
Brennan Johnson - Crystal Palace
Brennan Johnson joined Crystal Palace after struggling for game time for Spurs. While he's started each of the five games since joining Palace, he's yet to register a goal involvement. Now that Crystal Palace have signed Jorgen Strand Larsen, Johnson will compete with Ismaila Sarr and Yeremy Pino for two starting spots. Before joining Palace, he had only started six games for Spurs, playing a total of 605 minutes across 16 games for Spurs.
Oscar Bobb - Fulham
Oscar Bobb moves to Fulham in search of regular football after injuries stalled his progress at Manchester City. While he started the opening three league matches of the season for City, fitness issues prevented him from cementing a role.
At Fulham, Bobb will face competition from Harry Wilson, Emile Smith Rowe, Samuel Chukwueze and Joshua King. Adapting to Premier League football outside a dominant City side will be a challenge, but if he stays fit, Bobb has the technical ability to emerge as a viable FPL option over time.
For now, he's returning from a hamstring injury and playing time will likely be minimal.
Final Thoughts: January Transfers and FPL Strategy
January transfers often present opportunities for early adopters willing to take calculated risks. While players like Semenyo, Guehi and Gallagher appear ready to contribute immediately, others such as Abraham, Rayan and Bobb may require patience as roles become clearer.
As always, prioritise confirmed minutes and monitor team news closely before making transfers. The coming weeks will reveal which of these new signings can deliver consistent FPL value heading deeper into the season.
