UEFA Champions League Best Bets: Jan. 21 Predictions, Picks & Odds (Matchday 7)

Matchday 7 of the UEFA Champions League wraps up Wednesday with a nine-match slate and major knockout implications. Below are our Champions League best bets, predictions, picks and odds for Jan. 21, including moneyline, total, spread and anytime goalscorer plays featuring Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Newcastle.

Marseille vs Liverpool Best Bet: Moneyline Pick (Jan. 21)

Liverpool to win -102

Marseille have won their last two UCL matches and have been on a scoring rampage with 14 goals scored in their last two games in all competitions. However, it's hard to see those results being used as a potential benchmark for this meeting against Liverpool. Arne Slot's men are coming off a disappointing draw against Burnley the last time out and have drawn four of their last five in all competitions, but they're also on a 12-game undefeated streak (W6, D6) in all competitions.

The Reds are the better team on paper and should be able to extend their undefeated streak with another win in French soil. With Liverpool enjoying the return of Mohamed Salah after playing with Egypt in the AFCON, they should have enough quality to breeze past the challenge of Marseille.

Newcastle vs PSV Best Total: Under 3.5 Goals (Jan. 21)

Under 3.5 total goals -118

PSV Eindhoven have been one of the most goal-friendly teams in the Champions League this season with 26 total goals in their six contests, an average of 4.3 per game. Newcastle have also had a fair share of goals in their matches, with four of their last five seeing three or more total goals. However, both clubs are dealing with a lengthy list of injured players, meaning both teams will be shorthanded and missing key pieces.

Three of PSV's last four UCL matches have seen over three goals, but three of Newcastle's last four have failed to reach that mark. While a high-scoring matchup could be on the cards, the lack of quality on both teams due to the long list of injuries limits the scoring potential here.

Bayern vs Union SG Best Spread: Bayern -2.5 (Jan. 21)

Bayern Munich to cover -2.5 spread -118

It wouldn't be a stretch to say Bayern Munich have been one of the most dominant teams in Europe this season, and the numbers back them up. The Bundesliga giants have scored 16 goals and conceded just three in their three matches in January, and they've cleared the 2.5-goal spread twice in that span.

Bayern Munich have won by at least two goals in four of their five Champions League wins, but when they've met opposition outside of the Top 5 leagues, the results have been telling, 12 goals scored and two conceded in three matches. Bayern's dominance at home combined with Royale Union's struggles, as they've allowed three or more goals in four of their last five UCL matches, suggest this should be another easy win for the German giants.

Chelsea vs Pafos Anytime Goalscorer Pick: Cole Palmer (Jan. 21)

Cole Palmer to score anytime -104

Chelsea are expected to dominate this game comfortably, and they should cruise to victory against a Pafos side that's likely to look completely overmatched from start to finish. One player who should be able to feast is Cole Palmer, who hasn't played in the Champions League since Matchday 1 against Bayern Munich, a game in which he scored Chelsea's lone goal in a 3-1 defeat.

The star playmaker will be too much to handle for a Pafos defense that's not used to playing against this caliber of opposition, and if he operates as the team's barometer on offense, it wouldn't be surprising if he has several chances to find the back of the net.

Palmer has battled injuries this season, but he scored the last time out against Brentford in the Premier League and has five goals in 13 matches between Premier League and UCL in 2025/26.

Champions League Picks for Wednesday, Jan. 21 (All Best Bets)

  • Marseille vs Liverpool (Moneyline): Liverpool -102
  • Newcastle vs PSV (Total): Under 3.5 -118
  • Bayern vs Union SG (Spread): Bayern -2.5 -118
  • Chelsea vs Pafos (Anytime scorer): Cole Palmer -104
