Facing Costa in April
FlyweightUFC
January 12, 2026
Nicoll will take on Alessandro Costa in a flyweight matchup at UFC Vegas 114 on April 4, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Nicoll could be fighting for his roster spot, as he's came up empty in both trips to the Octagon so far, losing to Jesus Aguilar by submission in 2024 and Lucas Rocha by decision last October. He now draws Costa, who has alternated wiins and losses since earning his UFC shot all the way back in 2022. Nicoll has a one-inch edge in height and reach, plus brings more offensive wrestling to the table.

Still looking for first UFC win
FlyweightUFC
October 11, 2025
Nicoll lost to Lucas Rocha via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Nicoll joined the UFC with some hype and an undefeated professional record back in August 2024. He's now fought twice for the company and has looked absolutely awful in both appearances. He was submitted by Jesus Aguilar in under three minutes in his debut and showed just as little here against Rocha despite seeing the final bell. Nicoll picked up a couple takedowns, but they came on a whopping 20 attempts. He did nothing with his positional advantage and was battered on the feet by Rocha throughout the course of the fight. Set to turn 31 years of age in early-November, Nicoll would appear to be far from guaranteed to get another shot with the company.
Rocha bout up next
FlyweightUFC
July 18, 2025
Nicoll will face Lucas Rocha in a flyweight bout at UFC Rio De Janeiro on Oct.11, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Just like his opponent, Nicoll is coming off a loss in his debut UFC bout, falling to Jesus Aguilar in August of 2024. Both fighters won't have fought in almost a year, and both will look to even their record in the promotion. Nicoll has two inches of height and one inch of reach on his opponent Rocha.
Goes to sleep in UFC debut
FlyweightUFC
August 17, 2024
Nicoll lost to Jesus Aguilar via technical submission (guillotine choke) at 2:39 of Round 1 at UFC 305 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Entering his UFC debut with plenty of hype and as a -200 favorite, Nicoll lasted less than three minutes. He did plenty of good work early, only to get overaggressive and fall into the guillotine choke that ended the fight. Nicoll chose to go to sleep as opposed to tapping out. Set to turn 30 years of age in early-November and with all of nine professional fights under his belt, this was a totally winnable fight in his home country against a lesser opponent. The fact Nicoll wasn't able to get the job done bodes extremely poorly for his future prospects.
Gets debut against Aguilar
FlyweightUFC
July 9, 2024
Nicoll will fight Jesus Aguilar at UFC 305 on Aug.17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
With an 8-0 professional MMA record, Nicoll will finally get his shot at the UFC level. The Australian flyweight will take on Aguilar, who is 2-1 in his UFC career though also a newer fighter in the realm of the UFC.
