Still searching for first UFC win

Sharaf lost to Steven Asplund via TKO (punches) at 3:49 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
As was the case in his UFC debut against Junior Tafa in October, Sharaf's toughness was on full display in defeat. He absorbed an insane 170 significant strikes from the debuting Asplund and never once hit the mat. Referee Mark Smith was finally forced to step in late in Round 2 when he deemed Sharaf was no longer intelligently defending himself, but the fact he was able to absorb that much damage without going down in remarkable. Sharaf's willingness to fight in the pocket and exchange with his opposition might earn him another fight with the company, but it's nearly impossible to envision a scenario in which the 32-year-old California native is productive enough to hang around long term. On the bright side, both men will walk away with an extra $50,000 after this back-and-forth affair was awarded Fight of the Night honors.

Facing Asplund in Vegas
HeavyweightUFC
September 26, 2025
Sharaf will take on Steven Asplund in a heavyweight bout at UFC Vegas 112 on Dec. 13, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Sharaf is coming off a tough defeat in his first ever UFC bout, falling to Junior Tafa via punches in the second round of a fight back in October of 2024. Now, over a year later, he'll get his second chance in the Octagon against an opponent in Asplund who will be making his debut with the promotion.
Hangs tough in late-notice debut
HeavyweightUFC
October 12, 2024
Sharaf lost to Junior Tafa via TKO (punches) at 2:15 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Accepting this fight in just four days' notice, Sharaf was extremely unlucky in his UFC debut. Tafa got away with a blatant fence grab in the opening frame in order to remain upright. Sean also had this fight won at the end of Round 1 after ending up in mount, but time ran out, and Tafa survived. The tide predictably turned in Round 2 when Sharaf totally gassed out and Junior put him away. The poor cardio is a major concern given the fact Sharaf had only four pro fights under his belt entering the evening, but he'll certainly get another shot with the company after "saving" this matchup.
Steps in to face Junior Tafa
HeavyweightUFC
October 8, 2024
Sharaf will face Junior Tafa in a heavyweight fight at UFC VEgas 98 on Oct. 12, Marcel reports.
ANALYSIS
Sharaf will step in to face Junior Tafa after Chris Barnett was forced to pull out of the fight due to a natural disaster impacting his home. The Smoke has an undefeated record and will look to enxtend his streak against Tafa, who has lost back-to-back bouts.
