Tarin defeated Ernesta Kareckaite via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
Stepping in for Sofia Montenegro on four days' notice, the 21-year-old Tarin looked excellent in her debut. She appeared remarkably calm inside the Octagon, getting the best of most of the striking exchanges against Kareckaite, an opponent known for her Muay Thai skills. Most impressive of all was how Tarin appeared to be able to outmuscle her opponent in the clinch with ease, leading to plenty of effective knees and short shots from in tight. Any fighter having any success whatsoever at this level at such a young age is obviously worth keeping an eye on moving forward. Full marks to Tarin for taking advantage of her opportunity, which would also go on to earn her an extra $100,000 after this bout was awarded Fight of the Night honors.
