Fighting Adesanya in Seattle
MiddleweightUFC
January 13, 2026
Pyfer will fight Israel Adesanya at UFC Seattle on March 28, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports
ANALYSIS
A win over Abus Magomedov in October extended Pyfer's winning streak to three fights -- good enough for him to carry an extreme momentum advantage over Adesanya, who has lost three straight. Pyfer will be at a significant size disadvantage, however, giving up two inches of height and five inches of reach to his opponent.

Taps out Abus Magomedov
MiddleweightUFC
October 4, 2025
Pyfer defeated Abus Magomedov via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:44 of Round 2 at UFC 320 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
In what was a shock to most everyone, Pyfer started this fight by grappling. He was asked in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan if that was intentional with the hopes of tiring out Magomedov, but he replied it was not. The decision allowed Abus to win Round 1 on all three scorecards. Once Pyfer got back to his old ways and started unloading bombs early in Round 2, the fight was over. One huge combination floored Magomedov, and Joe then worked to finish him off via submission. It would go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts. Pyfer is 6-1 in the UFC, and the lone defeat was against Jack Hermansson in a fight in which he dominated early on before gassing out. He's a legitimate prospect at 185 pounds.
Scheduled for UFC 320
MiddleweightUFC
August 4, 2025
Pyfer is scheduled to compete against fellow middleweight Abus Magomedov at UFC 320 in Paradise on Oct. 4, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Now that Pyfer has gotten the Gastelum fight out of the way, he can focus on building a streak. For the former's next bout, he takes on Magomedov, coming off an upset win over Michel Pereira.
Takes decision from Kelvin Gastelum
MiddleweightUFC
June 7, 2025
Pyfer defeated Kelvin Gastelum via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 30-27) at UFC 316 on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.
ANALYSIS
These two were scheduled to fight in late-March, at which point Pyfer was forced to withdraw the day of the event due to illness. They finally got it on here, and although Pyfer won convincingly, it was not the most impressive effort. The highlight of the night was a pair of Round 1 knockdown's secured by Pyfer. Yet, as is always the case, Gastelum's durability came through, and the bout continued. Joe's output and effectiveness dropped noticeably the final 10 minutes. He stopped throwing kicks and stopped stringing together combinations, instead looking for the knockout blow. Pyfer is 5-1 in six UFC bouts, including four wins via stoppage, so it's hard to say anything bad about his results to date, but he clearly has some holes in his game that he needs to clean up.
Rebooks with Gastelum
MiddleweightUFC
April 7, 2025
Pyfer will take on Kelvin Gastelum in a welterweight bout at UFC 316 in June 7 in Newark, per Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com.
ANALYSIS
The two were scheduled to face off at UFC Mexico on March 29, but Pyfer came down with an undisclosed illness the day of the fight and the bout was scrapped altogether. Now, the welterweights will get another crack at each other, this one in early June. Pyfer is looking to make it two straight victories in the UFC.
Out with illness
MiddleweightUFC
March 29, 2025
Pyfer's bout with Kelvin Gastelum has been cancelled due to the former coming down with an illness, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Pyfer was looking to make it two straight wins after disposing of Marc-Andre Barriault back in June, but he'll have to wait a little longer to try to build another winning streak. Rather than try to find a replacement fighter for Pyfer, the bout has been cancelled altogether.
