Bonfim certainly didn't look the part of a -425 favorite and was quite lucky two of the three judges felt he did enough to win. The Brazilian was the better man in Round 1, racking up two takedowns and some control time. He was less effective as the fight progressed, although neither man landed much volume on the feet. Thompson won Round 2 on all three scorecards and was responsible for the biggest blow of Round 3, a kick to Bonfim's face. Ultimately, Bonfim's five successful takedowns and some wall-and-stall late was enough to earn him the win. The 27-year-old Brazilian improves to 5-1 in his first six UFC bouts.
