Mancini had two goals, eight points, 10 PIM, 27 shots, 38 hits and 41 blocks across 31 outings between the Canucks and the Rangers last season while also providing four goals and 13 points in 30 regular-season AHL appearances between Hartford and Abbotsford. Taken as a whole, it was a step forward for the 23-year-old, and Mancini would progress further this season if he’s able to secure a spot on Vancouver’s third pairing out of training camp. It’s going to be tough for him to earn that spot, but he’s in the mix. Just keep in mind that he’s not an offensive force and is unlikely to get regular power-play ice time, so don’t be shocked if he finishes below 20 points even if he spends the full season in the NHL. With Tyler Myers being held out of the Canucks' lineup during potential trade talks, Mancini was likely called up to ensure that Vancouver will have six healthy defensemen ahead of Wednesday's game. The 23-year-old Mancini is still hunting for his first NHL point through 10 games this season, but he's made a solid impact with Abbotsford, posting 12 points, a plus-1 rating and 52 shots on net across 33 appearances.
