Ottawa Senators
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Appearing in 70 regular-season games in 2024-25, Pinto set career highs in goals (21), points (37), blocked shots (56) and hits (73). While those numbers are encouraging, the two-way center's points per 60 minutes dropped from 2.18 two seasons ago to 1.81 this past campaign -- that can partly be attributed to the Senators having a more balanced attack. The Long Island native notched just two points with the man advantage, and his power-play time per game dropped significantly from 2:24 in 2023-24 to 1:07 in 2024-25. He also scored on 16.5 percent of his shots last season, an increase from his career average of 12.4. With a diminished power-play role and Tim Stutzle and Dylan Cozens ahead of him on the depth chart, Pinto may be hard-pressed to reach the 40-point mark for the first time, but he's still a good late-round target for his depth contributions. Pinto scored a power-play goal in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Red Wings.
ANALYSIS
Pinto's tally late in the second period was enough to force overtime, though the Senators weren't able to get the win. The 25-year-old has two goals and two assists over his last six contests while playing in a middle-six role. The center is now at 14 goals, 25 points, 86 shots on net, 45 hits, 23 blocked shots, 24 PIM and an even plus-minus rating over 38 appearances. This was just his second power-play point of the season, so he could elevate his offense if he gets more time in that situation.

Pinto served a 41-game suspension for activities related to sports wagering, which delayed the start of the 2023-24 campaign for him until Jan. 21. Despite missing the first half of the season, though, he was solid after that, supplying nine goals and 27 points through 41 outings. With that incident behind him, the 23-year-old (24 on Nov. 12) seems primed for a strong campaign. The only major downside is that the presence of Tim Stutzle and Josh Norris might result in Pinto being deployed primarily as the third-line center and on the second power-play unit, which would limit his offensive opportunities somewhat. Still, it would not be shocking to see Pinto record 50-60 points, which would be a major jump from his previous career high of 35.
Fresh on the heels of a 2021-22 campaign which saw an upper-body injury limit him to just five appearances, Pinto played in all 82 games for Ottawa a season ago. He put up 20 goals and 35 points, including nine with the man advantage. There are a lot of mouths to feed offensively for the Senators, but Pinto, who won't be 23 until mid-November, has proven to be a solid source of secondary scoring for both the team and deep-league fantasy managers. He's a better keeper or dynasty asset than redraft pick.
Pinto was great at the tail end of the 2020-21 campaign, posting seven points in a dozen games with Ottawa. He played just five games last season before suffering an upper-body injury which required surgery and ended his year. It's fair to wonder where Pinto fits into the pecking order on a reloaded Senators team now that he's fully healthy, but the Long Island native is a former fringe top-100 prospect who won't turn 22 years old until November. Pinto remains a sneaky stash in all keeper/dynasty formats.
Pinto is destined to be the Senators' second-line center, but not for a few years. At 20, he could make the Sens' roster out of camp this season because of his diligence on the defensive side of the game. After all, he debuted in 2020-21 after a nomination for the Hobey Baker Award and delivered seven points in 12 games. Pinto hasn't looked out of place at training camp this fall -- his shot is as sharp as ever and his work ethic is off the charts. But Pinto's development would be best served in the AHL, where he could play up the lineup and learn to be more dominant. Still, his growth curve has been steep and we wouldn't bet against him.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Contract forthcoming?
COttawa Senators
November 10, 2025
Pinto and the Senators could finalize an extension this week, according to general manager Steve Staois, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Pinto is putting together a fantastic start to the 2025-26 campaign, racking up eight goals and six helpers through the first 16 outings. The 24-year-old center's production comes without any power-play points despite averaging 2:18 of ice time with the man advantage. Still, the longer he remains without an extension is only going to serve to cost the Senators more at this point.
