A second-round selection by the Los Angeles in 2021, Helenius collected four goals, seven points, 150 hits and a plus-1 rating across 50 regular-season outings in 2024-25. The 22-year-old also appeared in 20 games with AHL Ontario, as he has yet to establish himself as a fixture in the NHL. A similar path could be in store for the left-shot center in 2025-26, as the Kings brought in a few established veteran forwards via free agency, so Helenius will have to earn his ice time. ANALYSIS
Helenius hasn't shown much with JYP this year, logging nine points, 76 PIM and a minus-7 rating through 48 appearances. Despite the lackluster scoring numbers, the 2021 second-round pick is expected to get his first taste of North American hockey this spring. He'll need to get acclimated to the AHL, so the 19-year-old is unlikely to get into the NHL next year unless he has a hot start.
