While his $3 million cap hit isn't absurd, Engvall was an occasional healthy scratch in 2023-24. That didn't stop him from posting 28 points in 74 regular-season contests, but it was the first time in three years he missed the 30-point mark. Entering his age-28 season, it's clear that Engvall is a steady middle-six winger with speed to burn, but that doesn't make him a fantasy asset. In addition to his lackluster offense, Engvall typically won't add much in the way of physicality, and he rarely sees much more than second-unit minutes on the power play. Throw in the Islanders' tendency for ultra-defensive hockey, and you can find depth forwards with far more upside in the late rounds of fantasy drafts.
