2025 Fantasy Outlook
Janmark potted a career-low two goals and generated only 18 points across 80 games during the 2024-25 regular season. He has topped the 30-point mark once in his NHL career, but he failed to reach the 20-point plateau in either of his past two campaigns. Over those two years, Janmark hasn’t been getting many shots on target, and he has averaged just 12:38 of ice time per contest. His situation in 2025-26 likely won’t improve as a fourth-liner with the Oilers. Read Past Outlooks

Janmark scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 9-4 win over the Kraken.
ANALYSIS
Janmark got his first goal of the year Thursday. He's been heating up -- all four of his points this season have been earned in the last seven games. The 32-year-old defensive forward has added 12 shots on net, six hits, six PIM and a minus-3 rating over 12 appearances in total. Janmark probably won't provide enough consistent offense to help most fantasy managers, but he plays a valuable on-ice game that keeps him in the lineup.

Serving in strictly a depth role for the Oilers last season, Janmark averaged a career-low 11:54 of ice time per game and managed just four goals and 12 points in 71 games. He was better in the playoffs, with four goals and eight points in 25 games. Edmonton clearly valued his contributions given the fact they handed him a three-year, $4.35 million contract to stick around in free agency. Janmark should again occupy a slot on the fourth line for the Oilers while helping out on the penalty kill. It's not a gig that will lead to fantasy value in any format.
Coming off of back-to-back 25-point campaigns, Janmark and the Oilers were able to agree on a one-year deal this summer to keep the Swede in Edmonton. The 30-year-old is a steady defensive forward who is not team-dependent on his offense. He'll likely be back in the 25-point neighborhood again while picking up bottom-six minutes and time on the Oilers' penalty kill in 2023-24. He doesn't have much physicality in his game, so his fantasy appeal will remain limited to deeper formats unless he can find another level on offense. He's been a steady producer, but you can probably do better in the last few rounds on draft day.
Janmark tallied 10 goals and 19 points in 41 games with Chicago before he was dealt to Vegas last season. There, he added another five points in 15 games and eight points in 16 postseason appearances. It was the first time he eclipsed the double-digit goal mark since the 2017-18 campaign and his 0.43 points-per-game rate had him on pace to reach the 30-point mark for the second time in his NHL career. Despite his decrease in scoring as a Golden Knight, Janmark averaged a career-high 17:50 of ice time per contest, including 2:21 with the man advantage, over that small sample size. The 28-year-old has a secure middle-six spot in Vegas and should contribute on the second power-play unit in 2021-22.
Janmark put up 21 points in 62 games in his final year with the Stars in 2019-20. Never a notorious scorer, Janmark is typically known for quietly steady defense and penalty-killing work. With the Blackhawks entering a transitional year, there's a chance Janmark will see top-six minutes, but the Swede probably won't produce at a high level on offense even with the chance to see second-unit usage on the power play. The 28-year-old should end up with roughly 20 points, 90 shots on goal and a handful of power-play points in 2020-21.
The 26-year-old has emerged as a reliable checking forward for the Stars over the last three seasons, but his offensive contributions took a steep dive last year -- after scoring 19 goals and 34 points the year before, Janmark saw those numbers tumble to six and 25, both career lows. Some poor shooting percentage luck (just 5.7 percent) and a loss of his role on the second power-play unit were both to blame, but while the former could see positive regression, Janmark's not likely to regain those man-advantage minutes with Joe Pavelski and Corey Perry now in town. His defensive contributions remain valuable to the Stars, but his fantasy upside is limited.
After missing all of 2016-17 due to a knee injury, Janmark returned to action last season and posted respectable numbers aside from the minus-13 rating that came along with his checking assignments. The 25-year-old plays a prototypically solid, smart two-way game for a player developed in the Swedish system, and his versatility is a definite asset, but it's still an open question whether he can supply enough offense to consistently hold down a top-six role in the NHL. The Stars are desperate for secondary scoring behind the Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn duo, though, so look for Janmark to get plenty of opportunities to stick on the second line, potentially putting him in line for his first 20-goal, 40-point campaign.
Janmark missed all of last season following October knee surgery, and in his absence a number of other young Stars forwards began to stake out claims to regular NHL jobs. don't write the 24-year-old Swede off, however. He scored 15 goals and 29 points in 73 games as a rookie in 2015-16, and his consistent two-way play mark him as a potential pillar of the checking lines if his knee issue didn't cost him a step. Janmark isn't likely to make a big offensive contribution this year, especially considering the team’s offseason free-agent acquisitions, but he could help improve on Dallas’ anemic defensive showing last season.
A third-round pick by the Red Wings in 2013, Janmark was acquired by Dallas for Erik Cole in March of 2015, finished out his final year in Sweden, and then came over to the NHL last season. He made an immediate impact, opening his North American career with a four-game point streak and then settling in as a reliable presence in the Stars’ bottom-six mix. It’s unclear how much fantasy appeal the 23-year-old has in the long term, though – he plays a solid two-way game, but lacks physicality and may never score quite enough to satisfy owners. But he also has a cake slot on the Stars’ second line alongside Jason Spezza, which is enough to make him a late-round flier.
Janmark-Nylen had a big year in Sweden in 2012-13 and will continue to hone his skills there in 2013-14.
