Rooney accumulated three goals, four points, two PIM and 65 hits in 33 regular-season contests with the Flames in 2023-24. His efforts were good enough to secure a one-year, $1.3 million contract for the 2024-25 campaign. Rooney will likely spend the season alternating between serving on the fourth line and being a healthy scratch. When he is in the lineup, he should be a decent source of hits, but the 31-year-old is unlikely to provide meaningful help in any other category.
