Jakub Dobes

Jakub Dobes

24-Year-Old GoalieG
Montreal Canadiens
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Dobes made the most of his first taste of NHL action, earning a 7-4-3 record with a 2.74 GAA and a .909 save percentage in 16 games with the Canadiens. He surpassed Cayden Primeau for the backup role early in 2024-25. Dobes also posted a .881 save percentage over three playoff games. Dobes isn't going to push Sam Montembeault out of the starting role any time soon, and Primeau will likely be working hard in training camp to regain the backup job. For fantasy, Dobes is a fine option in deep formats behind a Canadiens team that's on the rise, but he's still largely inexperienced entering his age-24 season. Read Past Outlooks

Third straight win
GMontreal Canadiens
January 20, 2026
Dobes made 16 saves in a 4-3 win over the Wild on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
It's Dobes' third straight win, although that's the extent of games he's played in January. Such was the peril of a three-headed goalie monster, but Jacob Fowler was returned to the AHL a few days ago. Dobes now has sole possession of the second seat, and he could be a solid daily play depending on the matchup. Overall, he's 15-5-3 with a 3.01 GAA and an .887 save percentage.

May start against Wild
GMontreal Canadiens
January 20, 2026
Dobes could be in line to get the starting nod at home versus the Wild on Tuesday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobes has featured in just two of the Habs' last 13 outings, in part due to the team carrying three netminders while Jacob Fowler was still on the NHL roster. With just two backstops now on the roster, Dobes could see more opportunities, but he does seem to be behind Sam Montembeault for the No. 1 spot and the bulk of the workload.
