After joining the Canadiens in April from the KHL, Demidov notched one goal and an assist in his NHL debut versus Chicago. However, he didn't find the scoresheet in his second regular-season outing. During Montreal's first-round playoff series against Washington, he earned two assists in Game 4, but he was held off the scoresheet in the other four contests. Still, the 19-year-old forward has tremendous upside going into his rookie season and is a top contender for the Calder Trophy. Demidov enters the 2025-26 season as the favorite to take home the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie. A lengthy injury absence not only would have impacted the Habs' early-season results but also could have opened the door for somebody else to take home that title.
