Shepard was recalled from AHL Hershey on Thursday. He has a 2.00 GAA and a .919 save percentage in 26 contests with the AHL club, but Shepard hasn't fared as well with Washington, posting a 3.19 GAA and an .894 save percentage in four outings this season. Pittsburgh is tied for 22nd offensively with 2.95 goals per game, so the Penguins would be a somewhat favorable matchup for Shepard should he get the start.
