Dylan Samberg

While far from lighting up the scoresheet, Samberg produced a solid eight points with 91 hits, 93 blocked shots and a plus-10 rating over 63 games in 2022-23. The Jets rewarded him with a two-year contract, so there's a good chance he'll be in the lineup more often than not going forward. At 24 years old, there's still a little room to grow for the second-round pick from 2017. Samberg may never have stellar scoring numbers, but he's a solid bottom-four blueliner who could move up the lineup if injuries strike. Aside from the physical production, his fantasy prospects are limited in most formats.

Samberg made his NHL debut for the Jets last season, playing in 15 games and picking up five assists. The majority of his action came late in the year when Winnipeg was eliminated from playoff contention. Samberg is a big-bodied, stay-at-home defender and a physical presence. The offensive numbers he posted in his brief trial run were misleading. This is a player who might post 15-20 points over the course of a full NHL season. The 23-year-old has little to no fantasy value, even in keeper/dynasty formats.

Selected by the Jets with the 43rd overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, Samberg will return to the University of Minnesota-Duluth for the upcoming season. Having said that, if he puts together another solid campaign -- he notched 13 points in 42 games last year for the Bulldogs -- the 19-year-old could sign his entry-level deal after the college season and link up with Winnipeg for the last few games of 2018-19.
