With quantity over quality on the Maple Leafs' blue line, Mermis is likely to have a tough time getting into the lineup - if he's in the NHL at all. Last year was a career-best campaign for Mermis, who put up eight points in 47 contests with the Wild. The 30-year-old defenseman is unlikely to see anything more than a third-pairing role when he plays. At this point, a trade to a team with a thinner defense would be a best-case scenario for Mermis' playing time, but there's virtually no need for any fantasy manager to track his progress at the start of 2024-25.
