Conor Garland

29-Year-Old Right WingRW
Vancouver Canucks
2025 Fantasy Outlook
From a pure points perspective, Garland’s 2024-25 production was right in line with what he produced in the previous three seasons, hovering around the 20-goal, 30-assist mark. However, how he got there last year had a few notable differences. He had a career-high average time on ice, eclipsing last year’s mark by 4:07, yet he still finished with fewer shots on goal (171) than he did on last season’s Canucks team (200). With the increased usage, his power play scoring showed a sizable improvement with the 29-year-old producing seven goals and nine assists with the man advantage. If the two-time 20-goal scorer gets the same usage he got last season in 2025-26 as a top-six forward and member of the top power play, all it might take for Garland to break out over 60 points is better even-strength production, which he has delivered at other points in his career. Garland (undisclosed) will return to the lineup against Montreal on Monday, Jeff Paterson of CanucksArmy.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Following a five-game absence, Garland will occupy a top-six role and should see power-play time against the Canadiens on Monday. He has earned seven goals, 22 points, 78 shots on net and 24 hits through 33 appearances this season. Garland will replace Kiefer Sherwood (undisclosed) in Monday's lineup.

Garland isn't a standout forward, but he is a consistent one, recording 17-20 goals and 46-52 points in each of the past three seasons. He finished 2023-24 with 20 markers and 27 assists to go along with 35 PIM, 200 shots and 53 hits. The Massachusetts native served primarily in a third-line capacity last year, and the 28-year-old is expected to continue in the same role this year. There's nothing to get excited for here but safe can be nice too, and if you're at the point of a fantasy draft where a forward who is a strong bet to record 40-50 points has appeal, then snatch Garland.
Garland's goal-scoring normalized in 2022-23, but he took fewer shots than he did the year before, resulting in a 17-goal, 46-point campaign in his second season with the Canucks. He's in a tough situation on a team that has plenty of prospects on the wings, which saw Garland bumped down to a firmly middle-six role along with second-unit power-play time last year. The 27-year-old will likely have to settle for a similar role in 2023-24, but a little more playmaking or an increase in shot volume could get him back to the 50-point mark. Fantasy managers that can be happy with that production should consider Garland a solid depth forward.
Garland completed his first season in Vancouver after spending his first three years in the NHL with the Coyotes. His 52 points in 77 games marked a career-high, but Garland failed to top the 20-goal mark, finishing with 19 tallies. A major part of Garland's so-so campaign was the result of his mediocre usage. He averaged just 16:24 of ice time per game, down more than a minute and a half from the year prior. But the big issue came with the man advantage, where Garland saw just 1:36 per game and finished with just three power-play points. Perhaps Garland could have snagged a spot on Vancouver's No. 1 PP unit if J.T. Miller was traded, but that never came to fruition, so Garland is looking at a similar role in 2022-23, which limits his fantasy value to deep leagues only.
After back-to-back 39-point seasons, the Coyotes decided to get some return on investment for Garland, trading him to the Canucks in July. This could be huge for the 25-year-old winger, who plays a hard-working game but hasn't had a truly elite center feeding him pucks in the desert. He should be a lock for a top-six role in Vancouver, which all but guarantees he'll play alongside either Bo Horvat or Elias Pettersson for the bulk of the season, especially given the team's lack of talent on the right wing. This could lead to a breakout campaign for Garland, who could push for 60-plus points and a significant role on a talented top power-play unit if he develops good chemistry with his new teammates in training camp.
Garland took a significant step forward with 22 goals and 39 points in 68 games during the 2019-20 season, his second in the NHL. The winger again displayed a talented touch on offense, shooting 13.9 percent on his 158 shots. He also contributed 10 of his points on the power play. Garland projects to fill a top-line role in 2020-21, and should also receive ample power-play time. If a full season is played in 2020-21, he'll likely crack the 40-point mark for the first time in his career. Don't expect much physicality from the 24-year-old -- Garland's talents remain firmly on the scoresheet, but that makes him worth a middle-to-late round pick in standard fantasy formats.
Garland split time between the Coyotes and AHL Tucson in 2018-19. At the NHL level, he contributed 13 goals and five helpers in 47 contests, providing surprising scoring depth with a shooting percentage of 11.0. He also added 25 points in 21 games with AHL Tucson. Garland also made an impact on the power play, where he had six of his points for the Coyotes. A natural right wing, Garland may be adversely affected by the Coyotes' acquisition of Phil Kessel. At 5-foot-10, he's not likely to add much physicality, but he's a volume shooter -- the 26-year-old fired 118 pucks on net last year -- and his AHL numbers suggest he could be a fantasy factor with the big club.
