Clay Stevenson

27-Year-Old GoalieG
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Stevenson should be the Capitals' No. 3 goalie for 2025-26, though playing time will be hard to find as long as Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren stay healthy. Stevenson was 18-8-5 with a 2.94 GAA and a .888 save percentage in 33 regular-season games with AHL Hershey last year and also picked up his first NHL appearance in the Capitals' regular-season finale. At 26 years old, he's not a particularly strong prospect for a long-term NHL job, but he'll fill an organizational depth role. Read Past Outlooks

Sent to AHL
GWashington Capitals  Minors
February 10, 2026
Stevenson was loaned to AHL Hershey on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Washington recalled Garin Bjorklund from the minors in a corresponding move. Stevenson has gone 11-8-3 with a 2.57 GAA and a .912 save percentage across 24 AHL appearances during the 2025-26 campaign. He also has a 2-1-0 record and has stopped 66 of 73 shots in three NHL outings this season. Stevenson may return to the Capitals after the Olympic break if Charlie Lindgren (lower body) remains unavailable.

Starting again Tuesday?
GWashington Capitals  Minors
February 2, 2026
Head coach Spencer Carbery said Monday that there's a chance Stevenson will start again in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stevenson turned aside 29 of 30 shots in Monday's 4-1 win over the Islanders, as he played a big part in helping his team in a crucial divisional matchup. Since Washington is currently without its top two netminders due to injuries, Carbery may be hesistant to give Garin Bjorklund his first career NHL start in another big game against the Flyers on Tuesday. Stevenson himself has made only three career NHL appearances, but his performance Monday may be what leads to him getting the start again in the second half of a back-to-back.
